I have a friend who works at an Acura dealer and he hooked me up with a test drive.
Off the line it doesn't have the typical VTEC lag, and it really screams in the upper revs. I think that with an aftermarket intake/headers/exhaust combo it could pose a serious threat to lightly modified '98 and earlier Stangs, possibly even stock 99+ automatic Stangs. The engine was just a wonder. Too bad it has to haul around around the weight of the luxury amenities, really slows the car down.
The seats were awsome too. Nice leather, and substantial side bolsters, while still keeping you comfortable.
There were a few things I didn't particularly like though. The 6-speed shifter definitely leaves something to be desired. The best way to describe it is rubbery, as the shifts are far from crisp. The clutch was also way too light IMHO, but then again I'm used to the rather heavy mechanical clutch in my Stang.
Also, Acrua should ditch the stock "all-season" tires and get some wider performance tires on there. The rubber on the car that I drove just plain sucked.
Bottom line: Honda has produced an excellent engine, now they need to get to work on everything else if they want to appeal to the sporting crowd. This is still far more a luxury car than sporty coupe.
On a side note, I'd personally like to see a lightweight RSX with that 3.2-liter 6-banger under the hood. Now there's a car that would rip

What did you think about the torque steer? I can imagine with 260hp under-hood that thing has got to have some mad torque steer issues. I recently test drove an Infiniti I35 (FWD/255HP) and that car had bad torque steer on full-throttle linear starts.
The TL-S/CL-S are nice cars, but that is what makes the new Infiniti G35/G35 Coupe all the more nicer IMHO with RWD/52-48/260/275+hp.
-Drew

And now with the Double Wishbone suspension gone, can't imagine how will that RSX drive with the V6.
Now if they can make the RSX slimmer and bring back the kick arse handling they used to have....
With the Stang in the shop for the last two weeks or so, that's what I've been driving. Seems like every time I step on it the wheel tries to yank itself right out of my hands.
Damn FWD
