I have an 04 S60R MT CPO with 75K miles that has had all scheduled service done and is under warranty.
When getting on or off the gas there is a metalic sound coming from the front of the car which sounds to me like an unlubricated or worn universal joint. I asked the service manager at WC Volvo what he thought and he suggested I check the front sway bar for tightness. The Service manager was not real confident that it would be covered under the CPO warranty.
Any suggestions are appreciated before I start wrenching.
Plus160

I think I know this one all too well......
the first sign of angle drive failure, its the bit that feeds power to the rear wheels (happened on my 98 model R) out here in aus was a $2000 part and a $1000 to fit. Happened after extended high speed work with slightly different wear from front to back tyres, Volvo wouldnt cover it, so my advice, make sure the tyres are evenly worn front to back before going in when it fails. If im right will take another 200 miles or so and by then will be so bad you wont have the heart to take your foot off the gas for fear of total destruction!
I hope I'm wrong.......

Re: (LPG Karl)

BTW notorious on the older cars to fail at 110K miles or so, but if at any time the tyres have been uneven or car has been driven real hard.......
After mine I swore I'd never buy another AWD volvo, its a poor excuse for an AWD setup really.

is this something that is inevitable? I have just under 25k miles and I'm not sure what to be listening for.
