So I've just bought this nice GPS/ipod/etc.. it's the Pioneer AVIC-F90BT for my Volvo SUV only to find out that Volvo doesn't really have a double din mounting kit available. Anyone out there know of one?
Thanks.

Re: Double Din Mounting Kit for 2004 Volvo XC90 (ben3b73)

You vehicle has the latest & greatest as far as oe auto sound systems: MOST an entirely digital network between the HU and its peripherals. It does not easily lend itself to HU replacement, e.g. your amp will not work with an analog HU like the avic.
Try asking this question in the xc90 forum, I'll bet someone there will know all the details. And google search is your friend:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...43925
Re: Double Din Mounting Kit for 2004 Volvo XC90 (MrTippy)

Ah I see.. well the only thing I've found close to a double din for XC90 is this:
http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk....html
But does a 2006 model fit the 2004 model? I'm willing to pay the shipping charge from UK.

You could email them and ask.
Also, the aftermarket HU will not work with your steering wheel controls without and adapter and I don't know if one is available for the XC90.
Dietz (German) makes them for the non-MOST vehicle, e.g. 01-07 V70's etc.

I asked them anyhow.. lol

Do you happen to know if the connectors to the Volvo XC90 are the same as any Ford models? Found this one also.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com....html
Appreciate your help

Volvo sends its steering wheel controls commands via something called the CANBUS (digital), you need an HU that understands them (oe only at this time) or an adapter that will translate them into the standard analog signal that many aftermarket HU's can understand.
This link says that a Dietz 61010 or 61009 will interface with an XC90 using this cable (Dietz 61023). p.5
They also show what looks like an aftermarket HU to XC90 cable and a facia--I can't tell what year it is for. The cable should work for all years--I don't think the wiring has changed much.

Not surprisingly the adapters are $$ Sonic appears to sell most of them, check out the canpulse5, there even is a pioneer harness to go with it.

Re: (SiCkEsTC30)

The folks over in the XC90 forum should be able to give you some good advice about mounting kits. With regards to universal mounting kits, I would be sure that you could return anything that doesn't quite work before purchasing one.
