OK, I know this topic has been soundly flogged before but I still have some specific product questions and want to make sure all this is compatible before I purchase.

I have a Kenwood DNX 7120

I'm looking to get the double din plastic surround

The wiring harness

Would I still have the issue with losing the center dash speaker?

Also, this item works for the 07 XC90 and my HU, any chance the CX and my R had similar steering wheel button wiring??

Thanks, all

My guess is the steering buttons are the same, as the VR and SR are pretty much the same car, I don't see why they would have put a different system for that into the XC... but your module is said "Not compatible with any Volvo models." on the link you gave, are you sure it fits?? Just to mention, I installed a PAC-SWIPS in my Tacoma and the installation went well, when I took off the sheet from my friend's hand, I did not know he didn't know how to read ( lol... ) The steps are well explained, it is in fact pretty fun to program, as there only one push switch on the module, it's kind of tricky and makes the fun in it. The module works really well, if one doesn't know it's there, he can't guess it is, the controls just work as the HU was a factory one.

I don't understand why people are putting in double din screens in that hole, if your car has a HU-803, chances are you are putting something with less capabilities ( Not sure at all, but is the factory amp usable by an aftermarket HU? ) The main reason why I love the stock HU is the factory look, it's so sleek... I find that a nav screens/DVD players put there just looks out of place, but that's my own opinion... I know people have different opinions about that (Although I've seen some other people thinking the same as me) and you are free to do whatever you want

What exactly is wrong with the center speaker when installing aftermarket HU? Is it a physical clash or do you mean the HU you're installing doesn't support that dolby sourroung setup?

I have a double-DIN JVC installed. It's got piles more features and options than any factory Volvo radio. It's not as sleek or integrated, but I now have full A2DP bluetooth with calling, video in from cameras, USB HDD connectivity, and more. My center channel is driven from the speaker outputs of the JVC, the FR- and FL+. The JVC uses the factory amp as well, using a eBay-sourced cable (mine I custom wired because I have a wacky radio/amp). Very few stereos have 5.1 processing built in, some have external processors that will enable it.

I was just looking for the eBay cables for a double din upgrade. The main reason I'm upgrading, the stock unit isn't reliable. I haven't played a CD is two years in my R. I need new features, so I can stop playing music off my old Blackberry Bold. N23 you have a pm!
