Well, in the course of working on my car, I've found some rather irritating 'fix its' done in various places.
I thought of this as I was just out replacing all the rear bulbs and cleaning contacts in a last ditch effort to stop my bulb failure light from going off. Instead of 3 1073 bulbs and 2 1157s like a 240 wagon is supposed to have, I was finding some 1156s were 1073s should go, unusual bulb I couldn't identify where an 1157 should go, and a 1073 where the other 1157 should've gone. I was irritated to say the least. Hopefully when I've got the cur running again, replacing these bulbs will help.
Others:
-A black plastic zip-tie being used as an exhaust hanger.
-Shoddy wiring bypassing my fuel pump and fuel injection fuses(haven't fixed..haven't quite worked out which wiring it is)
-Zip-ties holding my grille on.
-A peice of rubber fuel hose and 2 hose clamps where the high-pressure plastic line between the pump and fuel filter is supposed to be.
-A big blob of RTV being used in an attempt to fix a leaky taillight gasket.
-Missing parking brake shoes
-The junkiest trailer wiring harness splice job I've ever seen.
I know I'm forgetting some, but yeah, lots of irritation caused by former owners. I know I'm not the only 240 guy to have to deal with this.
The previous owner of my car put in a new AMM, crank position sensor, fuel pump relay, and bulb failure relay.
For my other 240, the PO did NOTHING in 132k of ownership. Tires, batteries, belts, oil, gas....

Mine has lit up every single time I've hit the brake pedal since I bought it. I'm hoping matching bulbs and a re-grounding of the light assemblies will fix er up.

Re: (DVolvoguy777)

aparently one of the previous owners of my 91 240 replaced the whole rear assemblies with aftermarket ones, (Which i had a heck of a time tracking down the manufacturer to order new circuit boards) and all was well.... except for a loose ground

Well blah. New grounds and new bulbs didn't help at all. Oh well. All the bulb replacing and stuff I did in the dash helps quite a bit at night though.
