So I have purchased 3 Volvos from the DB group the S60R being the latest. I have had the car for a year, and over all pretty pleased though it has been back to service about 5 times in one year for random stuff going bad. Each time I brought it to DB Dulles I dealt with a service adviser initials CC and he has been well a big fat D1ck every time.. acting like it is my fault I have problems and dismisses anything I say is a problem like he knows best and I am just some stupid jerk with an S60R..
So my latest problem is the left hand turn signal problem where the turn stalk shorts out.. I called DB Dulles for some stupid reason, talked to CC and again he was a total rooster. So I hung up.
Called Falls Church.. and so far.. I am super pleased.. What a difference, the adviser actually listened acted concerned and was apologetic to me for the car having problems (30k miles) with a 100k warranty. Anyway I have an appointment on Wed morning we shall see how it goes. They are going to look at a few other little things too.. Sorry for the long post.

My problem is that DB Dulles is literally less than 2 miles from my office, so it's just super convenient. Fairfax is closer then Falls Church.

Why are so many Service Advisors in our area like this? I have been taking my Volvo's to Silver Spring but after my last experience I am considering a change. I thought DB Volvo was supposed to be one of the better service departments in the area?

I think for the SA position in particular the nice guys do not last long, either because of stress (customers wearing them down) or not enough money (lack of upselling). The SAs with thick skin that treat it as money making opportunity and don't get caught up with relationships stick around. Yes, there are exceptions, but overall this is what I have observed.

The area so big and so (over)populated that you can act that way and there will be no repercussions for your actions. You don't have to worry about seeing these people at the grocery store or anywhere in person. You can go to work or home and be a totally different person. It works both ways, because the SA can be that way as well.

Re: Don Beyer Dulles/Falls Church Virginia (badams1897)

When I lived in NoVa, i was never happy with the person-to-person service I got from DB Dulles. The problem with DB Falls Church wasn't with their service advisors (I was assigned a guy named Tracy who was super nice and usually pretty responsive, even if not 100% up to speed on R's). It was with their awful technical work. Bringing the car to them with a problem resulted in a crapshoot as to whether they would fix it. In fact, if I had two problems, I could bet big money that only one would be fixed every time, or that they would screw up one of the repairs, or that one of their repairs would cause a problem..
For instance, I once brought the car in for the exhaust squeal and a minor trim issue. They fixed the trim issue and put the new bracket in for the squeal (I thought), but on the way home I got error messages and the car was driving funny. I brought it back. They reset the SUM and forgot to make sure the headlights were on, and I got the car back with the headlights pointed down literally the same morning I was about to go on a family vacation.
Then, once I moved out here, I discovered that they had installed the exhaust squeal bracket fix backwards or upside down.
So I can't recommend them. The Dulles folks are nasty to deal with and the Falls Church folks are nice but the techs aren't good.

Re: Don Beyer Dulles/Falls Church Virginia (HarryHood)

My experience with Don Beyer reflects somewhat like HarryHood's.
The SA's at Falls Church are good for the most part, but stay FAR, FAR, FAR away from Gene Sladkin and Tracy ____? Chris Prevatt is pretty good. Will Winston was the best but he's now with Acura.
BJ Alger was at Dulles and was their "R" guy. He's now at Mercedes Benz of Tysons.
As for quality of work, the quantity of service work performed at Falls Church is IMMENSE, and even more so since they added the KIA franchise. I would hazard to guess that they service maybe 250-300 cars a day at Falls Church over 13 or 14 techs. Do the math and you'll understand why they just don't want to deal with R's.
I would say, if you have a R, either go to Herb Gordon and have Nick work on it, or take it to Dulles and speak directly to the tech, and bypass the SA. I would steer clear of Winchester, Koons, DARCARS, FSK, Annapolis, and Fairfax for service for most Volvos.
Not only that, the Beyers also publicly post their e-mail addresses online so you can contact them directly. I would strongly recommend that you be courteous if you decide to go that route as no one wants to give SS a black eye.

Bobby be very careful down there exiting the parking lot. Their entrance and exit are way steep. Please check your winglets before you drive off the lot and make sure they didn't tear them up taking it in and out of the shop.
I used DB Falls Church for 8 years with my S70. Now using DB Alexandria for the R for the last 3 1/2 years. Happy with both, Alexandria is closer.
