Thats what I got on a 90 mile stretch today according to the onboard computer. Is that low being that Volvo says 26 (its a 1997 T-5 wagon).
Gary
Re: Does 24.5 MPG sound low for cruising hiway at 75 MPH? (yellow95)

On old oil and whatnot...it would not shock me. However if you tune that car a little...you can do more.
In my old 850 T5 with 264k miles and 264HP at the wheel...I was able to get 32 MPG if driven nicely on the highway.
Good luck and cheers!
Prospero

My R never gets more than 23 or so at 65 and that's really feather footing it
My all around MPG is 18. something and I'm disappointed that I can't it get a bit better. Seems like I'm filling up all the time
Remember this is with a new tune up, stock ECU, Mobil 1 and premium fuel
Both my stick T5's got nearly 30 when stock (at 60-65 mph) and nearly 27 chipped.

One other thing to consider is that factory MPG ratings are under near-lab conditions: tuned motor; flat roadway with no wind; and a speed of 55MPH.

With warmer weather my MPG has improved. Although most are highway miles, I'm averaging 27 right now...sometimes 26.8...sometimes 27.2....with combined city and highway driving in my '98 Auto S70 T5 and that's with IPD ECU.

Mileage

The last 120 mile trip for the XC produced 28mpg. Mobil1, regular fuel, flat ground with a slight cross wind.
Switched to midgrade fuel two weeks ago and jumped up almost 1.5 mpgs on average.

Re: Mileage

Hmm, your numbers make me thinking.. I usually reset the onboard comp on oil change. I have about 2500 miles since I did it las time and it shows 24.5 mpg.. I never thought it's low... S70 T5M with 151+ Kmiles..
You certainly lose mpg at higher speeds. 30 mpg stock, reported by JRL at 60-65 doesn't sound bad at all! I should slow down, as I get about 25mpg highway in a stock 98 T5 manual w/ synthetic, at 75mph average.

30 was not reported by an R, it was a 98T5 manual...
25 was reported by a similar '98, but driving 10mph faster.
I think it's safe to say it depends on your specific model, how well it is maintained and how fast you drive

I usually cruise 80-100mph on the highways around Dallas, where the 4spd auto sits between 3000 and 4000rpm, turning in about 18 or 19mpg.
I generally take the TL on highway trips, it'll turn in 30mpg on 95mpg trips. I chalk it up to a fancier automatic.
Anyone know what kind of gas mileage the newer 6spd auto S60 T5s get?

I recently achieved 30.2 MPG on a trip in my 98 T5. I will admit though that the speed was between 55 and 65 the whole way-- no high speed driving.
