I have a minor, yet VERY annoying problem on my 95 T5. When it is cold out, the key dinger, and the foot light stay on. Depending on how cold it is, you can reslam the door and get a few minutes of peace and quiet, but the colder it is, the shorter the p&q. The main overhead lights turn off, but these are the only two that stay on. I'm sure it is something easy, but I'm just starting out... i'm 17... anything would help Thanks!

I would start by pulling out the door switch and cleaning the contacts with 600 grit or finer sand paper. Then apply a micro thin layer of WD-40 to the bugger. Be sure to also clean the screws that hold the switch in as well as the area where the switch actually goes into the car. Slamming the door will just cause more problems, so I would not keep that up. Also, look down the side of the car. Check to be sure that the doors are all closing flush against the body. You can test this by closing the door and pushing in on it. If you get more than an .030" of compression using about 10 lbs of force, you need to loosen the latch "hoop" on the door sill/ frame of the car. Tap it in towards the inside of the car, re-tighten, and close door. Keep doing this till the slop goes out of the door. The proper tool used for this adjustment is a T-40 3/8" drive socket on a ratchet. Be sure to tighten the screws real well as this is what holds your door closed. Have fun.
Prospero.

turboale,

I am not sure if you know this, but there is a little trick with the door switch when the door is open, you can keep the interior lights turned off. All you have to do is press the switch down and twist it. That will keep the lights and beeps off until you close the door, it resets once you open the door again.

Oooh, neat. I didn't know that. How did you come to learn this?
