Hi there,

I recently destroyed the driver's side door mirror on my 2011 xc60. The cover is fine, but the main component and glass are both cracked.

Would it be difficult/recommended to replace this yourself, and what is a reliable place to buy the part?

I've done mirrors before in my S60r to install folding ones. It's not that hard. You need to be comfortable removing trim as you will need to take the inner door panel off in order to access the wiring harness. When you pop off the interior trim by the mirror you can detach it from the inside, but the wires snake behind the door panel.

Have a look at

It's for an xc90, but it will give you an idea of what you're in for. The xc60 should be pretty much identical. Remember to get the correct mirror options if you have BLIS or whatnot.

Have a look on eBay as well. I've had some luck getting spares from there.

The cheapest route is to find one at a salvage yard.

Erie Volvo if you are in the East: http://www.erievolvo.com/

Volvo-Saab Auto Dismantler if you are in the West: http://www.vandsautodismantlers.com/
This is great - it actually looks like the second one has an 11 xc60 - http://www.vandsautodismantlers.com/volvo-parts-cars/150398-volvo-xc60-32-awd-2011.html

Is there some way I can confirm that the mirror would actually match mine? I have an R - I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

Upon closer inspection, there actually is a visible difference in the bottom black part of the mirror. As if there is an extra section on the one at the dismantler.

Looks like that's a BLIS sensor.

I just replace my side door mirrors (with memory and foldable) with ones that include auto-dimming function.
My car has 16,000 Km (2015.5 ). If interested let me know. Thank you.

The mirror will cost $232.41 and for installation you can expect to charge at least 1 1/2 hours ( approx $180). I haven't included taxes.

But yours are post-lifting version which most probably wouldn't fit MY2011.
