Perhaps Yannis or one of the other Volvo sales people can answer this. Is there a destination charge, $625 for Volvos, in an Overseas Delivery vehicle? Also, can the sunroof be deleted from the Premium pkg. on a T5 AWD? I'll bet I haven't used my sunroom 3 times in the last 4 years.

Re: Destination Charge (kullenberg)

Pat,
I am not a sales rep, but I try to answer your questions.
1. As far as I know - I did my own study before ordering mine - there is no destination chagrge for ODP, but you need to pay custom duty (about $900 - $1,000), which will be included in the final price.
2. You can't delete any item if it is included in a package. Read my post in the subject: Bi-Xenon lights. Hope that it'll help you a little bit

[Modified by patriot, 9:25 AM 9-28-2002]

And there is no customs duty (as posted below by Patriot) for any US-bound cars. You will just pay your state's sales tax and that's it.
As far as no sunroof, it can be done but..."T-5 AWD"??? No such thing. You cannot break up the Premium package but you can order separately Leather upholestery for $1400. The Premium package costs $2950.
BTW, destination charge is no longer $625; it has been increased to $660 for all 2003 US-stock cars.
Yannis

Re: Destination Charge (GrecianVolvo)

Thanks Yannis and "Patriot". I was calling the XC90, 5 cyl, a T5, forgetting that there is a T5 model, as well.,, I'll have to look at the Premium pkg, to see if there's enough other stuff that I might want to put up with the sunroof. I suppose the sunroof is a factor in resale as well.

Yannis,
Well, the custom duty must be included in the price. Buyers don't pay extra for that separately because it is included. Nothing is free! Someone has to pay the custom duty, then question is who

I believe that Pat is satisfied with answers from both of us
