The sunroof of my two week old 2006 S40ti was making a huge popping sound after I tilted it open. Oddly it took about 30 seconds for the sound to be heard, and of course it didn't do it on command while the service department guy was watching. Half-way home I got it to repeat several times so a U-turn later I was back at the repair shop and they finally heard it in action.
The service department said they needed to adjust the glass, and that their initial attempts failed until they usd a computer link to Volvo. Am I getting this right? Someone was tweaking the sunroof adjustments from a remote location?
The bottom line is that it worked. However, I swear the tilt roof would tilt all the way open with one push of the button before they "fixed" it. Now I have to hold the button down continuously to tilt the sunroof all the way open. They claim it never did that, and that I always had to hold the button for it to open fully. Maybe I remember it wrong?

Re: (Pez)

Forgot to mention I had them program all the side windows to open with the remote. Read it on this forum of course. That is so neat. Wonder if I could get the sunroof to tilt open and the windows to go down at the same time. Pretty handy on hot days I think.

There's a microprocessor that controls the sunroof, like just about everything else in the car.
Tom.

Cost me $18.00 I think. I wonder why they killed it in he first place? I suppose if you hit the wrong button while your walking away you could leave the care open for theft or damage from rain. You really have to press the key for several seconds for it to work.
I wonder what other goodies are in there?

Re: Dealer Computer Fix of Sunroof (Jazz2)

Well back to the dealer for a sunroof check. Initial huge popping sound was fixed as reported earlier. Now, I'm going down the highway and I'm hearing a very quiet "pop" almost like a big raindrop hitting the metal near the sunroof. No it wasn't a bird dropping an aerial bomb
I assume this is related to the earlier sound, except I'm not opening or closing the sunroof. Funny, I didn't even want a sunroof, but I did want Passion Red, and the upgraded sound system, so I drove off with the car the dealer had that most matched my wishes.
Anyone else having this problem?

But I've ignored it as far as reporting it to anyone.
They can't fix anything for me anyway, so why bother......
