I can't listen to my cd player for longer than 1.5 hours without it shutting off and saying "HOT." This is going to make road trips crappy if i cant listen to the cd player for very long. I couldn't really pin point a thread in the search. Any help?

There are many threads on this one. Apparently, the AMP under the passenger front seat gets too hot, and then shuts down. Do a search on this, and some solutions become apparent. Do you have crap under your passenger seat not allowing the AMP to cool off? Are you really turning up the volume, or is this happening with "normal" volume?
I was listening at normal vloume(not loud at all) and after about 1.5 hours into my trip the cd shut off and said hot and would not play again for at least an hour. The amp is free and clear of anything other than the floor mats and the seat. Pretty lame that I can't listen to my cd player for more than an hour. What gives?
Re: (hoagrod)

My 04 head unit was doing all kinds of weird things when it got hot, it was replaced under warranty. They said the replacement was changed to allow it to operate under higher temperatures. the replacement was a reman. unit. My head unit display was going crazy and sometimes acted as if it had lost power.
Re: (vlvman)

Also they had trouble troubleshooting mine. It sat behind dealer with heater running full blast for over an hour in summer weather before the symptoms were seen by the tech.
isnt there an air vent/ duct under the seat as well? did you have the heat on and is the vent aimed at it? next time it does it, see if you can actually feel heat coming off the amp.

If you are seeing "HOT" displayed on the head unit, the problem is the head unit.

While it is certainly true that the underseat amplifier, can in no way deliver it's rated output for any sustained period without overheating, there is no communicatioon between head unit and amp to display that fact. The center channel will also still be good under these conditions, since it does not use the underseat amp.

I agree, I've had it happen to me a few times but after some extremely 'spirited' driving lol. It would let me play the radio but not cd's.

The word "Hot" is diplayed on the head unit. It will quit playing cd's but the radio still works. The little cubby just to the left of the radio get super hot too. I put a pack of gum in there before and it damn near melted the gum. Is this a problem? Do I have to listen to 1 hour on and 1 hour off? I have a road trip to chicago in a few weeks and this is going to suck with out being able to listen to cd's. Whatever I guess!!!!
