Hello all,
The passenger side outer CV boot on my 96 850T Wagon is torn. I don't know exactly how long it has been damaged, but I'm convinced its been too long. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to replace the entire axle? I found them for a great deal on fcp.groton. Do I need any special tools and is there anything else that should be replaced while I have the axle off? Thanks for any input.

Re: CV joint replacement eminent... (DogHauler)

You'll need a 36mm socket, and preferably an impact tool to get that nut off. The spline can be tough to get out of the hub. I use a mongo brass drift.. You also need to remove 1 bolt that retains the ball joint to the steering knuckle, and the axle bearing cap.
The job is pretty straight-forward.
I have an FCP axle in my '96 855T. It fit great
