So I'm making a custom intercooler grill using the frame from the stock one and just putting mesh in the frame. What would be the best material to use to attach the mesh to the frame? Hot glue, super glue, some sort of epoxy? Thanks <p> <IMG SRC="http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt194/loren760/2009-07-21200723.jpg" BORDER="0"><BR><BR>

Re: custom intercooler grill (SDS40)

Have you taken the egg crate grill out yet? I ask cause there is no frame for the IC. Take it out and you'll see what I mean. I would use either an epoxy or hot glue to fasten the mesh to the bumper cover. IMO it looks best if you just remove the grille and leave the FMIC exposed.

Re: (SDS40)

Are you talking the upper or lower grille? Because the lower grille doesn't have a frame that I know of (what Matt was saying). The upper grille has a frame...

Re: (carreragt7)

I took mine out and never re-installed it. I think it looks aggressive. The intercooler in my other car was fully exposed and never got any rock chips/dents in it. I would just leave it out unless your going for aesthetics then id do what matt says and glue something to the bumper.

i tried something like that about 2 years ago. I got some supplies at a Pep Boys and made it myself. I kept it on a few months, but I like the exposed look a lot better. It was a fun try at least.<p> <IMG SRC="http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v98/141/112/23400346/n23400346_36673876_8187.jpg" BORDER="0"> <p> <IMG SRC="http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v98/141/112/23400346/n23400346_36673878_8818.jpg" BORDER="0">

ill be filling in the edges and sanding it to make it look similar to the upper grill. People hit the cement barrier daily on the freeway I drive on so there's always pieces of cement in all lanes, my front bumper already has chips in it. I'm going to have tape it up every other week I drive to work once I get a front splitter.
