Re: Custom built Computer (lax01)

All the parts with operating system cost close to $2,400 now and with the two 400 gig HD's would put it close to $2,800 (per Newegg.com).

I don't believe I am nuts on this. I would like to see were you can get THOSE parts for less. I could easily build a computer with the same performance for a lot less, but that was not the intention of the computer. If it does not sell I will part it out.

I am willing to accept any reasonable offer.

Edit: Current cost of all parts and software $2,336.87 plus shipping. With two 400 gig HD's = 2,736.85 plus shipping.

Re: Custom built Computer (Rangeball)

yeah...but its not new...its a used computer...

Also, that chip is old...single core and overly expensive because it was state-of-the-art...that graphics card is old and can be had for under $150 now...you don't say which type of Corsair memory it is...there is a great difference between their value-line and their XMS Pro Series line. So lets see:

* AMD Athlon 64 FX55 ClawHammer HT Socket 939 Processor - $600
* DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - $180
* CORSAIR XMS 2GB (4 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory - $100
* XFX Geforce 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - $150
* 2 Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - $190*2 (this is what kills you and is ultimately a waste of money) $380
* Lian Li PC-V1000B W Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case -$100
* Thermaltake Silent Purepower W0014RU ATX 480W Power Supply -$50
* ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro Cooling Fan with Heatsink
* NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model ND-3520A BK -$50
* Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3250823AS 250GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
* Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2ZS (Including Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card WITHOUT cables and accessories)
* VANTEC MRK-200ST-BK EZ Swap 3.5" SATA Removeable Hard drive rack Kit, with LCD display
* SAMSUNG Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Windows 98SE/ ME/ 2000/ XP
* Microsoft Windows XP Professional X64 Edition

I still don't see how this is above $2k....I estimate around $1700...maybe...and thats pretty old technology to be buying for $1.7k

just my opinion

I agree with 90% of your prices and opinion as well. The Corsair is the Pro line (http://www.newegg.com/Product/...45466) $126 * 2 = $252.00. The CPU it is not top of the line, but one month from now neither will anything else you buy now.
I actually forgot to include in the price above the other 300 gig hard drive and the Hard Drive rack. I am actually very curious where you can buy a Lian-Li PC-V1000B case for $100.00. The cheapest I can find is for $202.00?

I appreciate your insight Lax01 and I hope that it provides insight to anyone looking. As I said before if anyone is interested I am willing to negotiage a fair price. If not no worries, it will be parted out.

what do you want for the raptors and the 6800?

Let's go with your price above $380 for the raptors and $150 for the 6800. So $530 and that would include shipping.

Yes they are SATA 150. They are Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 400GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150. I will ship them both to you for $400.
