Custom 3" DP and exhaust w/ oval tubing

Back in February I had some bad luck and tore the exhaust off of my car. See destroyed exhaust. Really odd timing as I had started looking into a full exhaust upgrade just weeks prior. Long story short, the first shop I went to proved to have a good website and I was sold over the phone that they would be perfect for my project. Sadly, that was not the case; I could right a book on the sh*t work and lousy experience. So I had to find a second shop that was the real deal to resolve horrible install issues. After months of a Visa claim going back and forth, I was creditted in full the work from the first shop, and can now post the build.
This is a full 3" system from the turbo back, using oval after the resonators to attain maximum clearance at the rear tranny. This is important for me with NJ roads and NYC parking. I have a full 3-7/8" clearance at the rear trans with this setup.
Parts- from the turbo back include an AP 608227 High flow cat, Magnaflow 14419 resonators (2x, one right after the other, to keep noise levels low), Burns Stainless long oval transition 300-300-L, Oval tubing- straight, Oval tubing- 60 degree (this starts before rear tranny and turns just after clearing it), Long oval transition 300-300-L, Magnaflow 1229 rear muffler, and finally an Exhaust Tech/ Dynaflex tip #T455625SP painted flat black.
The second shop has beautiful flowing welds, and included a "shield" at the bottom front of the first resonator should I ever clip something. They also created a really nice rear bracket.
Service detach: in case DP and exhaust ever have to be taken off, you don't have to remove at the turbo. Wow!

Great work was performed by Mark and Brian (who are not DJs) at Exhaust East in Lebanon, NJ. This shop specializes in restoring oldold cars; plenty of RR Phantoms in the shop. Their attention to detail was terrific. I can't praise them enough. Exhaust East
The tone is subtle, with a murmuring burble when driving slowly through a parking lot. Definitely turns the heads of those that notice these things, and raises eyebrows with a "Is that a Volvo wagon?" expression. My wife doesn't like it much; too bad. I am thrilled by the performance and the sound when I get on the throttle. Refined, yet agressive. My two year old son says "Vroomvroom"- he knows what's what. And those Vdubs going to/from WaterFest a few weeks ago didn't know what hit them on routes 287 and 78.
I can't define the cost due to the associated damages and the double install. In the end I got just what I wanted, and insurance covered the whole thing.
I know a sound clip is due. Give me a few days...
Best- Scott

Looks fantastic. Sound clip(s) a must-do. I've always wondered about oval exhausts - can't wait to hear it, especially compared to the 3" EVOLVE sound clip.
They did a custom DP for you too?! That shop is very skillful for a 1-off system.
Your best line of the story: "My wife doesn't like it much; too bad". Ain't that the opinion with all of us! HA!!!

Looks great though I don't really understand the DP pic. Is it a custom bend, the flange looks big, is that the cat to the left of the pic. I'd like to see another picture of the DP.

Having seen it in person, the exhaust is a true work of art. It was exactly what I had planned on doing before my many projects snowballed into a giant mess. It sounds amazing, and looks even better
The clearance is, well, probably the best you could get while still running an exhaust at all. The two resonators truly do wonders. On the way to Carlisle, I'd follow Scott just to stare at his ass

I found references to this exhaust in a few threads - Lightspeed, any chance you still have any of the pictures? Would love to see them.
