Small hoses from the cruise control unit itself (under the battery) develop breaks in them. They can be replaced for cheap. I suspect this is the problem.

Hi
I'm guessing you are referring to the earlier version of V70's, My battery is in the boot and I don't think there is a separate cruise control unit.
As far as I know because it is a 'drive by wire' car the cruise is all controlled electronically.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

But I still seem to recall a vacuum hose system on the cruise. I'll try to take a look and post back.
EDIT: I looked at Volvo's maitenance software and it indicates that before the "network," that vacuum hoses and the like were necessary but now, all is done through switches, and software downloads...and they consider this an advantage (to whom they do not specify).
The dealer will have the switch in the side of your steering wheel that controls your cruise control that has probably gone bad. After replacement, you'll have to pay for a software download to get it to function.

Sk 799
So far you have had nothing given to you that will help your problem. You mentioned that the cruise used to work but has now stopped all together. Try this: get on a stretch of road where you can drive without any traffic. Get the car up to speed and place your foot behind the brake pedal and pull the pedal toward you. Then click the + or - button on the steering wheel. If your cruise now works your brake pedal switch needs to be adjusted, easy repair. If not, have someone scan your ECM for DTC's. There maybe a fault in the car that will switch off cruise if the computer can not control the system correctly. Try this and let me know.
Gazz
