Hi all,
I just picked up a C70 Coupe and the cruise control doesn't work. The light doesn't come on in the instrument panel when I switch it on and it doesn't hold the desired speed (even above 50mph).
I looked in the manual to see if there was a fuse for it, but I can't seem to find it.
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
Thanks!

Re: Cruise control has dissapeared (Token)

There's no light that comes on when I used cruise control. I just make sure the little switch on the left stick is set to on, then hold the upper side of the little up/down switch on the end of the stick till the gas pedal pulls away from my foot.

Re: Cruise control has dissapeared (C70drvr)

My '99 C70 Cruise control light went out a few months ago. It used to be there, at the far left side -- I think in the upper row. The cruise control still works without the light.
The light's still on in our '99 V70R, but it sounds as if it could go at anytime, too.
Do you know if the C70 has had a ECU upgrade?
I had my 99 S70 T5 upgraded by Speedtuning and lost the cruise control. No light either.
Oliver messed up something.
regards,
MAJ

This is a real shot in the dark but check and see if you have brake lights.
If for some reason the all the bulbs are burned out or the bulb integrity relay is bad the cruise will not work.

The CC pump is located directly below the battery tray (it's actually bolted to the bottom of it), and the CC vacuum line runs through/around the battery area. At least 75% of CC problems are vacuum line related. Over time (6-8 years), these lines can form leaks. In harsh climates, the lines can become so brittle that they actually crumble apart.
If your battery was recently replaced, the person doing the job may very well have damaged the vacuum line (hopefully inadvertently). I would suggest that you take your car back to the service place, explain your problem and ask that they check the CC vacuum lines around the battery and air filter assembly, and also the rubber elbow that links the line to the CC pump. Ask them to fix what they broke.

Re: (ScandinavianSunset)

What year is your C70?
If it has the ETB, then there is no vacuum to control CC - all electronic via ETB.
regards,
MAJ
