Had the unfortunate experience of starting off for work this morning looking out of a cracked windshield. I know I caught a stone on one of Chicago's wonderful tollways (under construction) yesterday, but it spread to a crack by this morning.

Question, will an insurance company replace with the same glass or better through their window provider, or am I better off going to the dealer for an exact replacement?

I have heard the OEM glass is very soft. Others have posted that premium domestic glass has been better. I am not sure of the brand(s)

Could be but back in 2003 when the windshield of my V70R cracked not all suppliers had windshields with rain sensor opening available. Dealer replaced with original Volvo at the time.
