I just noticed the glass on my passenger side headlamp is cracked. It looks like I picked up a rock, and there's a 12 inch fracture line right across the middle.

First off, is it possible to replace the lens?

I searched online, and couldn't find a replacement lens for the R. Does anyone know where I can find this part? I REALLY don't want to pay $1300 for an entire headlight module.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Cracked Headlamp Lens - 04 R (martini876)

What I had done in the past for folks like yourself, is direct them to the classifieds or ebay to get a busted lamp (usually the glass or tabs are shot). If it's the tabs, just un-glue the lens and swap yours out.

I'd offer to sell you mine, but everybody keeps breaking their pass. side!

Other option is to go through insurance, depending on what your deductible is.

Feel free to sell/donate your old one to me

http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif I've got Xpel film on my headlights and not only does it function as a protectant, it looks awesome too.

Xpel will not protect against rocks that can crack glass lens... You'll need these.

I know, I've been through 2 headlamps already.

Do they make these for the R? If so I would love a set. The rocks from last winter are cracking my expel film.

We are offering these here in the US. They fit the R, but you should not use the headlamp wipers with the headlamp protectors because they may get slightly scratched.

theres a couple listed for under $100 on ebay. says not for xenon lights? only halogen....but it states that it fits the 04 S60R.???

Those technically fit the R headlamps, but they are not meant for use with HID headlamps since they are fluted for disbursing a halogen light pattern.

Re: Cracked Headlamp Lens - 04 R (martini876)

Thanks for all the responses!

I couldn't find anyone who would sell a replacement lens. The cheapest module I found was about $450, with broken tabs. I have a $500 deductible, but I'd rather not turn this in to the insurance company because I just had a claim 3 months ago. (Where they replaced THIS frikkin' headlight)

So money's a little tight right now. Is this crack something that would cause damage to the headlamp module if not replaced quickly? I'm concerned about water shorting out the ballast / ignitor. (I guess I could run a bead of caulk across the crack.
)

Is there any possibility Viva might have this part in stock soon?

Apply some xpel urethane covers. Would provide a watertight seal until you find a new lens.

Do these replace the glass lens? If not what is the bone tool for?

...and whiskey-tango-fox are those???

Volvo factory acrylic headlamp protector, it doesn't replace the headlight lens; it covers it. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Sorry for the slight thread hijack, but does anyone know if the clear glass lens from the R HID headlamps will fit a run of the mill s60? Ive been toying with the idea of installing R HID spec headlamps in my wifes car, but would much prefer to retrofit my own HID projectors. Not having a smooth glass though is putting a hold on the project. Any input?

Re: (Turb04S60)

I'd suggest picking up some 05+ halogen lamps w/ the plastic lens and doing a retro on a set of those - they can be found fairly cheap on ebay.
