a 120 point (i think) check with a good warranty.
in the opinion of many on this board, the ONLY way to buy a used R.

You get a 130 pt inspection.
99999 mile / 6yr limited warranty and 24 hour road side assistance (from in service date). It covers everything that the normal warranty covers.
I believe it is transferable for $25 or so.
You should get a card and some paperwork.
Not every car sold is a CPO.
You choose a deductable of $50, $100 (maybe $200 also, not sure). Most dealers will pay if for you to keep your business so spend less and get the higher deductable (maybe check with your service manager first to see since some might not fork out the full $100, depends on how much they want your bus.)
LTA
Re: (gonelaxin)

I'm surprised the adminsitrators for swedespeed haven't moved this thread similar to one that was moved of mine. Your question has nothing to do with an R. Be careful, they get on powertrips and moving threads around validates their existance on this board.
Onto your question, does a CPO only come into play when you are buying a used car? Can you extend the current warranty. I had seen some threads quoting a price of $2500-$3500 for an extended warranty. Is this the same thing?

Re: (phuz)

How will Volvo know about the CPO warranty? Do I have to send them something? Why is it the only way to buy a used R, alot of problems?

Re: CPO (S40 T5R)

I would ask for the detail of the 130 point inspection. e.g. Checked brake pads and replaced or checked pads and they were within wear limit.
It would also be good to have at least sopme initials on the tasks performed so if there are issues, you will have a document saying it was done, and who did it.

It is all done online now, so the used car dept enters it straight into the Volvo system and it shows up when the service dept runs a warranty inquiry on your car.

HEY SINCE YOU ARE ABOUT TO PICK YOUR CAR UP, DO YOU THINK YOU CAN PLEASE ASK THEM IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CPO AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY? I AM CURIOUS IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. THANKS AHEAD OF TIME.

There are all sorts of extended warranties sold by 3rd party compies. The CPO (certified pre-owned) is Volvo Cars of NA warranty, and is pretty much an extension of the factory warranty. On top of that you can purchase up to another 2 years and 24K miles. Also, the CPO price should be figured in the price of the car and not broken out as a separate warranty. The 1 or 2 year extension is treated like an extended warranty.

IS THE CPO ONLY AVAILABLE IF YOU ARE PURCHASING THE CAR USED AND THEN THE VIP WARRANTY THAT YOU MENTION IS DIFFERENT THAN THAT? OR IS IT THE SAME DEPENDING ON THE TERMS? WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TERMS OUT THERE, ONLY YEARS, YEARS AND MILES, DEDUCTIBLE? IF THERE ARE SO MANY VARIATIONS, HOW CAN YOU COMPARE?
