It is possible that the bumper was sprayed - It's hard to tell. As crazy as this sound... Humor me, all Volvos, and many other cars' rear bumper have a slightly different color depending on the lighting. Apparently it has something to do with the cross traffic radar (I am not sure about this part). Take a look at random Volvos online, it will blow your mind, and once you see it, you can't unsee it
There is no way in hell that bumper wasn't sprayed.

Probably farmed out to one of those mobile airbrush companies that "fix" bumpers on the lot.

In any case... You're better off purchasing a new bumper and installing it yourself... A Saturday and a few beverage coupled with some you tube videos and you'll have that bumper off and on again in no time. It's really not hard to remove and reinstall that bumper.

There is no possible here. No OE has that much orange peel. And I've seen bad orange peel.

Again, don't repaint, just buy a new bumper that's already factory painted. I'm looking at them right now at Riley Volvo for just shy of $1100. It would be a quick hour or less install in your driveway.

That's why the clause is on the checklist... but this is clearly resprayed with a different paint. It can be hard to tell in photos... but that paint drip is certainly not factory!

Could you please send me the link. I see Onyx Black is discontinued.

Thanks for letting me know that point. I wish the dealer had disclosed this repaint prior to purchase.

It bothers me that they did not highlight this repaint job in the certification repair sheet. As you can see from the pictures the sheen is completely different between the metal and plastic panels
A repainted bumper, unless blended will have a different color property. Volvo sells prepainted bumpers. I had a body shop repaint my front bumper after tow damage, and it's definitely a different shade when looked at in different lighting. I'm not overly thrilled as they didn't blend either, making the color variation more noticeable, and that was attempt #2. However, it does still look a heck of a lot better than it did before with massive rock chipping.

That being said, your bumper job is horrible and completely botched. Use the $1500 to have the bumper swapped with a prepainted one.

Take your pick. I am not familiar with the other color codes besides my own.

Thanks. I found the below part.

The shipping estimate is $350. I am close to Oak Park, wonder whether they will waive shipping if I can pickup or have them install it for me.

I bought my '16 Polestar from them. Just ask them but I've never paid shipping on something I pick up from the dealership.
I called them once about a bumper, they wouldn't ship.

The car was certified in September.

I was looking at the original picture sent by the sales person on December 9th. The VIN number was clearly visible, the trim isn’t broken, and the rubber gasket wasn’t painted over.

Wonder whether there was an incident at the lot or they tried to cover some bumper scratches with this bad paint job.

Dealer responded couple of hours ago to reimburse $1500, which is close to one of my quotes.
The sad part here is that the dealer KNEW it happened AFTER taking pictures, and pretended like no one would notice! I mean geez, it looks like one of the salesman gave their kids a rattle can of paint and said do your best job, daddy will give you $50!

I sent the sales person the before and after pictures to ask whether there was an incident in the lot. No response

I’m have been very disappointed with VCNA of late. They use to be great and on top of things, now they don’t really care. They should have really taken the lead on this. No dealership should be allowed to get away with things like this
