Great to finally meet you Frank. It was a fun day. You missed a good hour of chatting at a Starbucks in Bellingham before the drive south.
As usual, it was slow through Everett.
I will creat a webpage later in the week (still finishing the one from Norway), but here are some raw footage from today:
1 - While waiting in line at the Mukilteo ferry. That's Joe behind me, followed by Frank and Tryg.

2 - Joe and I ended up together on the ferry. Darn it and such fantastic weather as well - I would have made it with all of you, BUT had to finish off tiling our sun room floor which I had promised to do.
They (the Rs that is) all look super good. That red one has nice lines and I really like the body kit - makes it look like it's hugging the ground more so than stock - NICE.
The sonic blue looks very handsome, and I see StaggLee and Kevin's 'fast' V70R made it also.
I'll make it nxt time hopefully.

MMMMM... bandwidth tastes GOOD...
As if we don't already have enough photos posted from today's R drive! Here are a few more just to annoy those with dial-up connections. The event was an absolute success, despite the traffic on Chuckanut Drive and somewhat light turnout. The small group of cars really worked to our advantage with the ferry leg and several stops in small parking lots along the way (it's quite a sight watching four R's trying to turn around in a very small and very crowded parking lot).
Attendees included Joe (StaggRLee), Kris (flybynight), Frank (frankhoffy) and his highly entertaining 3-person entourage, Kevin (KR900) with wife and cute daughter, Daryl (DarylKaiser) and myself (RainyS60R).
Getting ready to roll (Joe and Kris talking it up):

Frank's R in front of mine. Just for kicks, here is a very brief (and very blurry) video of Frank and his entourage heading home. Frank, sorry to let you down with this pathetic attempt at a video.
http://video.google.com/videop...4821
- Tryg

I use Meguiar's Insane Shine for the tires:

There are lots of really nice drives we can do up to Rainier. We can either go up through Paradise or up to Sunrise. Paradise is my neck of the woods. I try to go up there every weekend when the weather is nice.

Those are some great shots Stagg -
That looked like a great outing - makes me want to move to the PNW (I'm actually moving to Chicago soon). I love your wheels - they look very cool against the silver paint.

You guys in the Northwest and Northeast have the best GTG. Great photos. Looks like I'll have to head up north one of these times.

Well, I would have been there as well but my car has been in the shop now for over two weeks; phantom ECU issues apparently. The ECU got pulled and sent off for some testing as Volvo could not communicate with it. Ugh!
What a great day for a drive as well. My loaner (Mazda6) just wouldn't have fit in. Next time I'll be there with a vengeance.

Rainier - before the weather turns icky for the year. Is Saturday, 9/2/06 workable? The event could be as short as a half day or longer if people want to linger on the mountain. Assuming they would take kindly to the idea, Volvo of Tacoma would make a great meeting spot. Hwy-7 is more or less a stone's throw away, whether we get on in Tacoma or take the back roads through Puyallup to avoid the traffic lights and congestion on Pacific Hwy. The route between Tacoma and Rainier offers excellent driving roads (twisties, banks, views galore, you name it) and if Frank wants to meet us in Tacoma he can lead the way (assuming we can keep up of course). This event would be easier than the last one with no ferry logistics, etc. The more cars the merrier so far as I am concerned.
Any interest or suggestions on a date change?
- Tryg

dgloveR, do you think your R be back by this date?
