Hi all,
About a year ago, I had replaced my clutch due to the oh-so-awesome slave cylinder failure. A spec clutch replaced to OEM one. At the time, I also did my IPD tune, DP, and misc hotrodding while I had the car apart.
My collar gear/spline gears looked a bit pitted and rusty but serviceable, so I cleaned both parts up as well as I could and reassembled using the special (read $$$) Volvo grease. (crossed fingers)
Now, over the last month, I have been noticing a slight grinding/crunchy/vibration sensation in the clutch pedal when first taking off in first or reverse. Like when slack is taken up in the drivetrain. Occasionally if I have the window down, I can also hear a slight metallic "crunchy" sound.
I am fairly sure that this is not caused by the clutch and/or throwout bearing because 1) it is still really new, and 2)it was properly installed, and 3) There is not a hint of this noise/vibration when shifting between 2-3-4, etc, like any other time the clutch is used.
So my question is for those who have had the collar gear fail. Is this noise/symptom sound like what happens before it goes? or could it be something else? I am sure also that the increased HP/torque of my tune with spirited driving may be the straw that broke the collar gears back.
Thanks in advance for any input.
