I keep looking at these pics of this V40 Sport Edition from Frankfurt (below). I really like the package, though alas it isn't here.

Still, the 245 we just bought is a very similar gray color, and I'm debating how much to modify the car. On one hand, it's a great beater that I can lean against when it is dirty and just not care about scratching.
On the other hand, I could go much further with it.
Here's what I was thinking. Respray it in the factory gray, maybe with a clear coat this time. Slightly lower and tighten the suspension, new pads and rotors, spacers and 16" steel wheels from the S80.
On the inside, I could redo some sport seats, the rear seats and door panels in that beige color from the Sport Edition.
As for the engine, I don't know. It runs well, but is slow as molasses. I was thinking maybe a turbo, but we're probably going to start Project Car coverage on Rob's 242 Bertone, and I don't want to double up on the process. I was also thinking V8, especially a Ford to keep it in the family. Downside is that fuel economy goes to crap, but how cool would that be? And the new Ford V8s are pretty refined (4.6 or 32V if it would fit).
Oh well, I'll just keep dreaming.

I think it would be cool to pick up a set of these and have them refinished just like you did on the 850R. These look good and are pretty classic IMHO, but they are only 15x6's.

As far as the color goes, code:347 Titanium Grey Metallic looks damn good, from looking at the US version S40 SE. I think it would look great on the 245 with some slightly darker finished 240 Turbo rims.
-Drew

You know, I really love the turbos, but I recently saw a guy do 15" steel wheels on a rabbit, and it looked great. The appearance is a simple retro look (bare steelies have been cool since James Dean wsa cruising around in his 550 Spyder), and it's something that hasn't been done yet. The wheels should be affordable from the dealer, but I bet the spacers will cost just as much, if not more.
George
