Could Be Getting the R a Brother/Sister

Tell me what you think of this.

http://superiorvolvo.com/inven...owned

I think that gives you the entire list, but the one we're looking at is Stock #HP05857 the Passion Red one for $36,995.

We know we are getting an XC90 and we know we are getting the sport in Passion Red, but we weren't going to get one until late summer/fall, but this one is at our dealer and we can get it for the right price, PLUS I think I might have fallen into finding two buyers for the two cars we are selling, so we might get it sooner rather than later.

Anything to look for out of the ordinary. I lurk here quite a bit and I'm a regular on the R forum so I know about all the Volvo quirks and no matter which one I purchase, it will be certified.

Thanks and I welcome all comments.

Nice, go for it!

IMHHEO the '06 saphire black with same mileage for $10K less is a better deal. I could live without the arrest me red. Blue dials and aluminum knobs are a nice touch though.

I don't disagree, but I absolutely will not own another black vehicle, I just can't do it. I'm so anal about my vehicles and black is NEVER clean and I seriously lose sleep over it. I had a black pickup before my Sonic Blue R and the LS I'm selling is black. I can't stand it any longer.

I would probably go for the white on the XC90, but my wife is hell-bent on the Red Sport and it's hers so that's what we'll get. I agree though, you do pay a bit of a premium for that package.

I forgot to mention, they will be installing the DVD headrests for us as well, which was a must for us.

Looks nice and the asking price is reasonable to start. Just remember that you'll need better tires for next winter.

Seriously, brand new tires won't get me through a Kansas City winter??

Better does not imply that the tread depth is bad but that the tire/tread pattern is not winter friendly.

They are some sort of all season tires, I'll have to look more closely when I go back.

IIRC, Motor Trend (or similar) had issues with this package with regard to snow traction.
Re: Could Be Getting the R a Brother/Sister (MagoonR)

Way over priced......I was actively searching for this model for sometime back in Dec08.

I can tell you they were going for $29.5 to $33 max......one owner low miles with warranty.

Keep hunting.....imo.
Re: Could Be Getting the R a Brother/Sister (S80-T6_Toronto)

Used car prices have rebounded since December to the tune of 15-20%.

Especially on XC90's, S80's, and S40's.

That is a fair price for a CPO'd Passion Red XC90 V8 Sport. I say go for it.

Yeah, I've been watching and looking for quite a while, 6-8 months and I've not seen one Red Sport anywhere near 30K, not certified or non-certified. I think when I get down to dealing with Superior, I will be able to buy it for closer to 30 than 40, but no way you find that car, certified for under $30K.

Re: Could Be Getting the R a Brother/Sister (Husker Z)

I am in the market as well and I agree it is hard to get a CPO for less than 30K, but it could be negotiated around 30K without extended warranty, below current listings at Autotrader for 'Red' Sport Models:

- $ 32.9K w/ 18Kmiles
- $ 31.9K w/ 49Kmiles CPO
- $ 32.5K w/ 40Kmiles (private seller)
- $ 31.9K w/ 13Kmiles
- $ 28.9K w/ 16Kmiles

I know many members here like the red , I wouldn't mind for a short time, but for the long run I prefer the silver, gray or black sport. But that is just me.

Re: Could Be Getting the R a Brother/Sister (Husker Z)

I have the XC90 Sport in black but the red does look great. I've had virtually no problems other than premature tire wear on the stock Pirellis which I had to replace at 11k. Always watch the alignment. I strongly recommend snows in the winter.

My previous car was an 04 V70R and the XC90 is virtually trouble free in comparison. I do get more wheel spin on the 90 than I did on the 70 for some reason (maybe torque limitation on the R)

In light of your user name I would think you'd love a Big Red car!

My local dealer has a Passion Red '07 Sport with 30k miles and EVERY option (technology package, climate package, nav, rear entertainment) CPO'd for $35k.

I would NEVER buy a used Volvo non-CPO.

Yeah, it'll be a great tailgating vehicle for Husker games, that's for sure.

No, buying a preowned Volvo without CPO is not an option at all, I'm petrified as to what's going to happen when my R is out of warranty. Good thing is, I don't drive it hard, it lives a pampered life.

That price at your local dealer seems about right. I think I could buy this one for a little over $30 when it comes down to it.

We'll find out this weekend, I sold my Maxima last night so we're going to see if we can make a deal.

Re: Could Be Getting the R a Brother/Sister (Husker Z)

Okay, we ended up getting it and love it. Ended up getting what we hoped out of the Lincoln and came down quite a bit on the Volvo. I actually ended up purchasing another year of warranty too, just so we'll never be paying on it without having a warranty. Good thing we bought it, a snow/ice storm and I'm not sure the Lincoln would have gotten out of the driveway. Anyway, I have to take it back next week to get the entertainment system installed and get it detailed.

I'll try to get some pics of it, maybe later today and post them. The Passion Red sure will look nice at my next Husker Tailgate.

Quick shot, although it's horribly dirty.

I meant to chime in on this earlier...I say go for it! Hah, looks like you already did. I like the red a lot and would consider it if anything ever happened to my XC.

Good luck! Be sure to post your impressions (and some better pics!).

Yeah, sorry about the pics, the spring snow storm really put a cramp on having clean vehicles. They are going to give it a full detail though, when it goes back in to get the DVD's installed. So, maybe I'll take pics then.

My first impressions are that it's awesome! I love the look, the interior, the ride and the exhaust note on the V8. My wife was thrilled with the turning headlights this morning in her parking garage, thought they were super cool.
