Hi,

About to do an oil change on a 2008 XC90 6.2 AWD and have read conflicting torque values for the oil drain plug. I'm hoping someone can share the definitive Volvo torque value. Using OEM oil filter, o-ring, and crush washer.

Thanks in advance!

25Nm for the oil filter cover, 38Nm for the oil pan plug.

I just toque to yield and a tiny bit more, which I suspect is pretty close to torque wrench specs. One washer will last four or five oil changes that way. Why can't they make an oil plug with an O-ring set in a groove so it could be used over and over again?
Some years ago I got my new VW back from the dealer after first oil change and they had really crushed the aluminum washer to the point of pieces disintegrating out from it. I suppose it was lucky that they hadn't stripped out the oil pan drain plug threads.

Get one of these off Amazon for $24 and never worry about the bolt again, or dropping it in the oil drain bucket.
