When the temp gauge is near red safely pull over and raise the hood at hot idle.
If the fan is spinning fully then the thermo fan control switch should be ok otherwise not.

Avoid the generic "flex" radiator hoses as these put stress on the plastic radiator. If correct molded hoses are not available locally consider Volvo OEM items including clamps.
