Hey all. I'm looking to cut and weld the coolant barb on the inlet pipe for my turbo, to make more room for my EWG to recirculate back into the exhaust. Removal and replacement looks simple enough, but I'm worried about the O ring that goes into the water pump (P/N 976045). The only resource I've found says you have to remove the water pump in order to not pinch or roll the o ring going in. This wasn't referencing a C30, but I assume it'll go about the same. Does anyone have any experience with it? I haven't pulled the pipe yet, and don't plan to until I know I can without knocking the car down for a month.

I know @precisionguesswork did it a while ago to delete the oil cooler lines and make room for the turbo or wastegate. I don't think he needed to remove the water pump to do so, but hopefully he can chime in.
No. You can remove the water tree with the pump in place. Couple of bolts, couple hoses etc. have some new o-rings (factory) on hand. Use super-lube on the o-ring after installation and on the water tree. The water tree has a taper at the end to facilitate it going into the o-ring.
make sure you clean the race and any old o-ring/sealant etc that might be left behind when removing the old o-ring. A plastic o-ring pick works well without damaging the aluminum.
Rotate the water tree as you push it into place. It’s a snug fit so will take a bit of force to get it to seat. Be sure to thoroughly clean/debur the water tree area that will be inserted into the o-ring.

I deleted the factory oil cooler lines as I have a setrab external cooler.

Got the job done today. Really not as bad as I was expecting, though the passenger axle had to come out. Thanks for the tips!
:p Removing the axle isn’t 100% necessary, but definitely makes it easier. It’s a bit of a puzzle to get the water tree in and out while it’s in for sure. I contemplated removing several times , but with all of the other work I was doing with the turbo install, I had to have it in place to make sure that everything cleared the axle.

Did you lube it up?
Oh yeah. That super lube is great, I've never used it before and didn't expect it to work so well. It was a pain to find locally though, harbor freight seemed to be the only seller. Already pressure tested the system and it's sealed perfect.

Perfect for injector o-rings etc.
