God Dang it.....those Germany Volvo guys. How can they have so many of them? That's more than what we get in GTGs here in the States.
Jealous Kai would probably say..."Oh...that's probably all the Volvo owners they have in that country."
*sigh* One of these days...we will have a lot more than that in one of our GTG here.
That's a cool link actually. I was checking it out. Nice site. I'm talking to him about trading content. It's good he speaks English because I'm a dumb American.
That said Kai, I think we can get some GTGs going that'll be larger. What we should really do if we want a big turnout (and I'm working on this for next season) is to get together with the main players...
VCOA
VSA
Volvotuning.com
Washington Volvo Club
...not to mention the companies here on the East Coast.
With proper communication, I'd think it'd be easy to get a larger show together. It looks like the Boston GTGs on VolvoTuning are pretty large (from their galleries), combined with our DC people, we could do something maybe up in NY State or PA.
Gosh I wish we could get more out for Carlisle.

Let's see if we can put something together.
Got any preliminary plan yet? The OR GTG could of almost be bigger if we could of gotten something bigger than the dealer's parking lot. I know that was the best we could do due to few last minutes constraints. I believe if we can make it a more attractive all-around event, maybe something like what Volvo used to do in NJ, we can pull this off.
Also, I think positive inputs and supports from fellow Swedespeed members will help a lot, too. We almost have 1480 members on this board, we gotta have much more memebers around the East coast.
What da hey...if our diehard Volvo fans from the West can join us...we can even arrange something closer to them.
I really hope Volvo is reading this...if they want more publicity from their customers and regain the loyalty from the existing owners. I'm just mumbling, but...for example: they can still try to do something before the Fall hits. Like...do an event which they can show the S60R and XC90, new S80 and many other cars prototype or production cars to these more "targeted" customers. The ones that care....
Don't know...this is just a thought. Sorry to go OT like that.
Actually, I have yet to call Volvo about meeting in Rockleigh, NJ. I'll do it this week yet. If they'd be open to that, it'd be more central for the NY and Boston people to come down to.

Not too much of drive for most of the people.

A car show in the middle of Germany means that no one within the country will have to drive more than about 300-350 miles at the most. Holding a Volvo show in Kansas would not have the same effect.
Germany is also not very far from Sweden, which of course has the best Volvo shows (Vallakra...and the rest).

Kai,
A lot of Volvo freaks in Europe know about your car so that's something to be very proud of.
Here are some pictures of the last Volvo meet in the Netherlands.
Volvo 850 Club, Amazon Club, P1800 Club and me with my S60....

[This message has been edited by Johann (edited 05-30-2002).]

I just wish I could get more info about their cars from that side of the world. It'd be nice if it's in English. No, I'm not a typical American who can only reads English ( since George was being humble about it), but....that's the 3rd language I can understand. Wish I could understand more European country languages.
Again, like I always say...it's time like this that makes feel that all the effort is all worth it.

quote:
Originally posted by Johann:
Here are some pictures of the last Volvo meet in the Netherlands.

STOP!!!! I can't look at those pictures anymore.... WHY can't we do some event like that here in the States!?!?!? I always thought American is more car craze than others. It's the symbol of freedom...control...youth. Alright that just sounded like some cheesey car commercial from the 50's....or some of the Pontiac commercials.

Larry the car in the picture is a 480ES, it was not imported to North America (though it was supposed to , they changed their minds for some reason) I saw one in Fredericton when they were driving one around to all the dealers, it was a great looking car, and would have done well (as long as the quality was there) I have heard that they weren't the most reliable though, so maybe that's why they changed their minds.
