I am contemplating an xc90, probably the 2007 model. Does anyone know if Sirius will be available in 07? I was at the dealership today and noone could say for sure (they were trying to sell me an 06). Also, the dealer was implying that there would be a model change in 2008? Anyone know about this?
I know there will be very minor changes to the exterior for 07, what about interior? Any new features/options? Like I said the dealer wants to sell me an 06 so he is not giving too much info on the 2007 models. This car really is my first choice but I also drove the 2006 Mercedes ML 350, that was very nice aslo. Anyone have anything to say about that car?
Any insight would be appreciated!!

Re: Considering xc90 or ML 350.... (tammi)

Hi tammi,
I try to give my opinion regarding ML350 here in Australia (I have test driven it when I was looking for a SUV for my pregnant wife):
In general ML350 is a good car - well built, looks good, feels solid, have a great driving experience and a nice cargo area (it's HUGE, but not as large as the XC90). However, there are a few things that I (and my wife) don't like:
1. Transmission (??) bar - We are concerned what might happen if we change it to reverse (R) when we drive the car!! My wife drives a Honda so the signal bar is on her right side - Guarantee she will change the tranmission accidentally!! Not really a good idea
2. Park assist - Pathetic!! You actually have to look at the indicators to find out how close you are. Audio feedback only comes on when you are really close. Yike!! I have a BMW, and have driven other SUVs, their park assist is way better than the MB one - it give you a series of audio warning depending on the distance from the obstable.
3. Position of the Nav screen - A bit too low. I have to look down to see what's going on!!
4. Costs - Way too expensive!! For leather seat I have to shell out extra $!!
5. Reliability - Not as good as before - Opinions from various MB forums and my peers support that. But this could be biased
6. Sales - The sales person I have was too pushy - saying how pretigious MB is and how happy my wife will be if I buy the car (all BS ) After I test drove the car, he tried to make me buy the car on the spot!! How aggressive!!
7. Safety - Who can beat Volvo
Because of the above I made up my mind that the M-class is not the right car for us. Subsequently we cut the list down to two cars - XC90 or RX330/350. My choice? For sure the XC90!!! I don't really like japanese car - try too hard to look/feel/drive like a european car but failed miserably. The RX is a luxury looking SUV with a Camry engine!! Not for me!!
My 2 cents.
Kingsley

I was also considering the ML 350 but I went with a new 2005 XC90 instead (just three weeks ago.)
I really liked the ML 350. It felt a little more solid (the doors closed with more thump and the steering was tighter.) than the XC90 and I liked the way it handled on the road. However, a few things swayed me to XC90.
1) The reliability: We know two others that have the ML (a 2003, and 2005) and complain about little issues they have with the car.
2) Test drive the XC90 was a thrill to test drive. The salesman allowed me to drive it in a dirt lot and he showed me how the vehicle would not flip by practically making a 90 degree turn while were probably going 25 or 30 mph.
3) I thought the Volvo was more family oriented: We have a 6 month old and plan to have another child. The XC 90 seemed more children friendly. For example I really like the integrated booster seat in the Volvo.
4)The ML looked like it had more interior frills but we didn't need them.
5) And personally I think the XC90 looks more like a more capable Sports Utility Vehicle.

Re: (juramentum)

I viewed an ML350 yesterday. The sight lines to the Right Rear from the Driver's seat are partially obscured by the headrests + large C-pillar + D-pillar. Might want to decide for yourself.

I owned an ML320 Sport before our XC90 V8 and much prefer the XC90. I know the ML 350 is improved over my ML320, but I absolutely hated Mercedes customer service, which was non- existent in the North Houston dealership I bought from. My wife and I much prefer the Volvo over the Mercedes and I swore I would never buy another Mercedes based on our experience.
