Big difference with a 6M. Shifts are smoother, and more direct, and when the turbo spools up, it doesn't feel as jerky. Much more engine vibration is transmitted, which causes the engine bay to make more noise. Makes the motor seem louder. All in all, I love the part, but I might move to the black one because of the vibration. 20 - 40 minutes to install, but switching between blue and black would take about 8 minutes.

Regarding the engine transmitting more vibration, it is really noticable especially when you shut down the car. It feels a little rough when you turn off the ignition. I've noticed lately that when the engine is cold, I can feel vibrations at idle but they go away once the engine is warmed up. The bushing will also make your clutch work less forgiving because if you don't give it enough gas, the car will shake pretty violently. As for the sound I liked the extra sound it produced but it made some resonance at around 3,000 rpm. Interestingly after removing the center resonator the resonance has disappeared so I suggest you get that done if you get the blue bushing. You might also want to consider the black bushing which is apparently a little less stiff and doesn't transmit so much vibration.

It gets MUCH better after about 3000 miles, they "break in" a bit

Re: Comments on upper mounts and bushings (Elmoworld)

I bought the IPD Upper Engine bushing(there was only one option) and the upper stablizer mounts, have all on my GT now, have about 1,000 miles on them and other than the smallest of vibration, there are no issues.
The vibration lessened since first installed and quite honestly, I like it. I like to feel the car a little at idle. Before, I'd have to look at the tach to make sure the engine was running.
-Ben

Re: Comments on upper mounts and bushings (Elmoworld)

Don't forget........if you have a GT and DO NOT like the vibrations after the install, you can drill 4 small holes on the side of the big bushing with a 1/8" bit all the way through the bushing. Almost all of the vibrations will be gone. I did this because of the very cold winters in Minnesota and I am very please with the result. It has not affected the feedback at all. Just minimized the cold start vibrations. I have the Black Evolve bushing and a GT. Rick

Fortunately I have a good relationship with the service dept here. The last time I took the car in for service I asked one of the service guys if he had changed and thrown out any engine mounts lately and fortunately he had. So he went in the back, got it and gave it to me. They don't change the rubber bushing. Instead they change the whole assembly and throw out the whole old one unless it was a warranty change. So, I just knocked out the split up rubber center and I was good to go. Just got the engine mounts from VIVA and will be installing on Saturday. BTW, I got this idea from Johann and it worked

This looks like it COULD be the remedy for the people with the square mount...but like always, you should e-mail them to confirm....
http://volvomotorsports.com/vo...id=82

My car originally came with the round bushing but was changed under warranty to the square style. Now, I'm putting the round style back with the yellow powerflex bushing.

Would someone please post a definitive description of the differences and subsequent observations of the black, blue, yellow and any other variant in the available upper engine mount bushings including stock OEM?
I have a GT and do not want extra or inordinate vibration.
Thanks.
