I have seen quite a few R's circulating within Peterson AFB, plus a red S70 T5 with an IPD sticker on it. And my favorite sticker, "Bitte Ein Bit" on the T5.
If you guys are looking at this, it may be time to organize a GTG.
One possibility is the SCCA autocross that is taking place at the World Arena this saturday. If nothing else we could meet and greet there, and if anyone is interested, could run in the autocross.
Non-SCCA members can run for an additional $5, but need numbers for your R. Helmets apparently can be loaned at the event.
I'm heading to the Denver Champcar race the following day, so won't be able to stay long at the autocross (2 car days in 1 weekend may cause marital friction).
I am the lowered F Green V70 R that can be sighted on base and in the Springs area.
If the person driving the S60 R with body kit and what appeared to be a 3 in exhaust on base, is reading this, nice R!

Re: Colorado Springs R's (Britspeed)

Hi Nick!
I would love to come down to the World Arena this Sat. but I will be out of town visiting an old friend of the forum in Dallas this weekend. Also, my Evolve rotors are being attended to so my car is out of service since I sold my stock rotors to you.
We should definitely get together in the Springs as the last time it was in Denver and we have a few more Rs here than before.
Pick a date we can all put aside before the snow flies.
Paul

Nick -
I'm currently at the Homewood suites by the airport, give me a call. 574-2101. Had a site visit at NORTHCOM today, flying out in the morning, but looking for something to do tonight.
I left a note on an R in the parking lot, '04 Ti Grey with yellow ribbons and a dealer sticker on back, polera or something.
I'm coming back 21-25 Aug, so maybe a group of us could get together one of those nights... dinner?

Hey Kelly. It's almost 10 so don't want to call this late, but give me a heads up when you come back later in the month and I would enjoy getting together.
I am going to San Antonio on the 28th and will meet Bryan and Jesse there for a R reunion. Bryan and I will be TDY, but Jesse now lives there.
If you like, shoot me a .mil email with contact info. I am [email protected] etc.
Sorry I missed you tonight. Didn't expect you to be in town.

Re: Colorado Springs R's ("R" Kelly)

Hey guys, great to hear about other R owners in CO. I just moved here and the R will be here in Sept. I would love to get together once I'm settled in. I'll be in Aurora (SE Denver), so I'll also be looking for a good dealer to service the R. (any suggestions?)
I've seen a few S60Rs in the area (1 FG and one Ti Gray), but no Vs yet.

I just picked up my V70R on Tuesday. I'd like to GTG with the rest of you R drivers to get the scoop on these cars.
I'd like to come down for the auto-x, but will be out of town this weekend. Perhaps we can meet up for dinner when Kelley is back in town. I'm up on the other side of the peak in Teller County.

Hi to all that responded. With the number of R's I have seen in the Springs area, I am somewhat disapointed with the response. I assume that means that many of the R owners in the Springs are not Swedespeeders?!
I usually stick a piece of paper under the wiper of R's I see, telling them about Swedespeed so for those of us that are members in the Springs area, lets try to get the word out.
I will go by the World Arena sometime in the morning, just to check out the autocross. If I see any R owners there I will come by and say hello.

Bump... and interested to see if we have enough folks here to warrant a meet. I'd be happy to slip notes under wipers to spread the word as well, but I'm not in the Springs on a daily basis so it's probably not much help.

I can make it down any of the nights that Kelly suggested. Let's just decide on place and time to meet. Better for me to meet at 6pm or later since I have to come down the pass. I'm open for food choices as long as it's nothing too wacky like Mongolian BBQ'd lobster tails dipped in monkey brains.

Re: (whoosh)

hey guys...I'm visiting my cousins in Denver and wouldn't mind meeting some local Volvo guys....I've got my car and GPS so all you have to do is give me an address....I've got a 95 850 Turbo (which looks like an R) and its heavily modded...let me know. I'm busy Wednesday and Thursday nights (going to Breckinridge to visit more family) but I could meet up Tuesday or Friday night...seriously let me know

Kelly,
I wouldn't mind meeting you either and some of the other R guys here in Colorado Springs. The only problem is I am waiting for my rotors to come from Evolve as they installed the correct rear hats and turned my rotors. I should be getting them either today or tomorrow so I am free after that.
Wed evening would work.
I will send Nick an email and see if he is interested.
Paul

Re: (pie_ya)

I'm in Colorado Springs, at the Double Tree in the Cheyenne Mountain shopping complex on I25 near the World Arena. I'm assuming there a places to eat in here or close by.
And we now have time, Wednesday night. Would one of the locals like to step up and pick a spot?
I'm really in the mood for Mongolian BBQ'd lobster tails dipped in monkey brains, but hard to find on this side of the Rockies...

Re: ("R" Kelly)

Hey glad to see you're back. I'm up for dinner on Wednesday, but prefer to eat closer to the base. I live North and will have to pick up kids from CDC take them home and then come back again. The World Arena would be a bit of a hike.
If you don't mind, there are a lot of decent places along Academy, the main road that runs parallel to to the base.
Anyhow, Wednesday sounds good.
I can recon the area and provide some restaurant names/addresses tomorrow if people are ok with Academy (boulevard that is)?
Either N. Academy or Powers would have the greatest variety, and either is fine with me. Rock Bottom Brewery on Powers has good beer, but the food can get a bit pricey. There's an Old Chicago (sorry, no Lobster ala Genghis) at location C on this map if everyone is okay with that:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=...&om=1
Nick - If that's too far south for you, feel free to recon the area up by the mall... just throwing out suggestions.
Kelley, you're staying pretty close to the route I take to come into town. I'd be happy to swing by and pick you up if you'd rather not have to navigate through Our Fair City.
