Hi all,
I have an '01 C70 Coupe. I am looking into suspecsion upgrades, but since the car double duties as my companies Audio Show Car, I am interested in an adjustable height system. I see that there are coil over systems designed for other cars, does anyone know of a coil over system designed for the c70?
Thank you for any and all advise!

I don't know if coilovers are available, but for an adjustable suspension, you might want to ask Shawn Flint ([email protected]) about the adjustable air suspension that he had installed on his '98 V70. I don't know much about it, but he's posted some pictures to the brickboard aftermarket forum in the past, and the height adjustment is substantial.

Good luck.

Hey Peter,
You can either get factory Ohlins adjustable shocks, or I believe Ohlins can custom build one for you.
I know if you can someone convince H&R, they will make one, too. Contact European Sport Tuning, the banner that you see on Swedespeed. The owner Frank can hook you up b/c I already talked to him about this coilover purchase before.
Good luck with your C70, let me know how the CES went for you.
I'm loving the Brax, but I just need another amp for new subs I'm thinking about getting. Any suggestion?
BTW, check back with Swedespeed, George will have an article about my car soon.
Hi Kai,
You wrote:
"Hey Peter,
You can either get factory Ohlins adjustable shocks, or I believe Ohlins can custom build one for you."
The Ohlins is an adjustable damping system though, right? I would love to use this system.
However what I really need is an adjustable HEIGHT because of the weight I have to carry in the car.
I am keeping it to a minimum, and as balanced as possible, but it is still about 150 lbs.
And I do not want to "slam" the front end of the car either.......

" I know if you can someone convince H&R, they will make one, too. Contact European Sport Tuning, the banner that you see on Swedespeed. The owner of our parent company in Germany is very close friends with the owner of H&R......

" Good luck with your C70, let me know how the CES went for you."
It was very grueling, but by the end of the show we had manufacturers from all over the show coming to our booth to hear the Volvo's system as "the best sounding car in the show".......so I suppose it was successful!

"I'm loving the Brax, but I just need another amp for new subs I'm thinking about getting. Any suggestion? "
Well, what we have done is to use the "dead space" in the rear quarter panels, where the convertible has all the motor assembly, and fabricated sealed enclosures from fibereglass.
I use a 12" woofer on each side of the car, this keeps the weight balanced, and also the fibreglass doesn't weigh as much as a typical MDF box.
This also is far more space efficient than a box in the trunk, and from a sonic standpoint, the low frequencies are kept "up front" rather than the "bass player in the back deat" type of sound quality.
We rebuilt the little panel next to the rear seat bottom pad, and vent the woofers output through these little panels on each side of the seat.
it is totally "stealthy" as well!
As for amplification, I am using 2 of the Brax x2400 like you have, and a Brax X2000 to drive the subwoofers.
But my system is a "DVD Audio 5.1" system with full video indash and in the rear seating area, which necessitates the additional amplification.......

"BTW, check back with Swedespeed, George will have an article about my car soon."
Cool! I'll be looking for it!

Hey Peter,
Can you post pics of your C70 (inside and out)? I'm very much interested in upgrading my stereo to incorporate video but I still want to retain the dolby surround sound? Is that possible while taking the stock unit out? Thanks.
Regards,
Mike H.

If you say you want to go all out racing (well, wouldn't start out from a C70 in the first place anyway.), then it's a good buy. But if you just worry that the audio equipment will slam your car b/c of the weight, it's a bit ironic then. Maybe even just one would do. Any suggestion on which sub to use? Yes, I want the ones that are still in the market.
Keep in touch...
The system in my car has full DTS, Dolby Digital, Dolby Prologic, etc etc capability depending on the signal source. This is accomplished through the use of the proper processor. We also upgraded the center channel, both in terms of performance by changing to a 5 `/4" woofer and tweeter components system, and using a fibreglass sealed enclosure beneath it, and also by flush mounting it in a fashion similar to the side tweeters rather than using that god awful OEM "pod"........

"
well, because of ny business, not carrying the weight is not an option. And the suspension kits I have seen drop the car a predetermined amount (which is usually too much for my tastes) but being based on the rear end being unloaded.
So by using a coil over adjustable system, I could account for the added weight I must carry in the trunk.
Even though once you see the pictures of our install, 90% of the added weight is actually up in the front of the trunk between the wheels. It would also allow me to adjust the front end of the car to suit my tastes.
I see these systems available for most German cars, from Bilstein, Koni, etc etc
I'd sure like to find one for my C70!!
"Try to contact H&R if your connection can hook you up."
already going down that road.
