So I've had a warning light popping off and on in the ol' Turbo Tank ('01 V70 T5, 93K). Being I'm cheap, I would try to catch it with the code reader to find out what it is. Every time I'd get there, the code would be gone and the light would clear. Well, I was a couple miles away this time when it happened again so I bolted right over and found this:
From an AutoXray Code Scout 2500, the code was P1171, Fuel Adaption Bank 1. They had no idea what it was and the dealer is closed and won't have service open until Monday...and I'm impatient. So, I dug in to it a bit. Sounds like it's like likely the Mass Air Flow sensor. I couldn't find something online that showed where it was though. Is it like an O-2 sensor? Or something totally different? Chances are I'll have to wait until Monday for the part if I need it but thought I'd see if you had any suggestions. And, if you can't point me to where it is, I can try to clean it and see if that's the issue. Thanks!

Re: Code question. (alstensby)

Located on the output side of the airbox. You have to unplug the sensor harness and then remove it for cleaning. This post may help. Try cleaning it first and clear your CEL code. If you still get a CEL, I would get a new sensor. After that, still getting CEL, take it somewhere.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=118610

Actually, odd question. My air filter was a little on the dirty side (seen worse, but it's beyond what I typically like). That wouldn't cause the CEL to come on sporadically, would it? Just figured I'd check since it's right there and I'd rather buy a new filter than drop $130 on the new MAF sensor...can't believe dealers get about $400 for parts and labor! Then again, they charge $300 for the part.
