Hello,

CEL on, OBD II code reads P-0442, evap leak, small.. Replaced the gas cap (OEM direct from Volvo), nothing. Got smoke tested, revealed nothing. Recently replaced the J-hose and resmoked it; nothing. CEL came back, same code.. Aggravating..

Any ideas?

Smoke test it again. Look very carefully under the car especially around the hose connections and the canister. You have to be patient while looking. it might take more time than what ya think to find the leak. In addition, the leak might be in the engine compartment. Judging by the age of the car, ya might have a very small crack on the canister or a hose
and that can drive ya mad! Just be patient. And btw, exhaust leaks have nothing to do with a evap leak. And the evap only goes into the cycle mode when needed based on many
parameters that the ecu monitors. It is probably time to go over the whole system on the evap anyway based on the age of the car. You can fix it.
