Does anyone else have a terrilble clutch squeak? It is rather annoying. Any time i depress the clutch and release it squeaks like somehting needs lubed. I have tried to lube all pivot points but apparently, I did not hit the sweet spot.

Re: Clutch Squeak (Beowulf)

Go to dealer. I did long time ago. They putted some silicone lube and said that if it wont help, then they will replace the part - pedal. But it did help, it survived temperatures of 25F and over 100F sooo... do it now

When the car was in for the 22.5k service I told them about it. Of course that day was one of the days it wasn't squeaking. They told me they couldn't reproduce it but lubed the clutch peddle anyway. It started squeaking again a few days later.
My driver's seat started to squeak now too. It seems to happen when the seat experiences lateral forces. I'm going to have to pick up some ear plugs.

Spray some silicone or lithium grease on the pivot.

I found out from the dealer that this is a know problem and they will fix it. I was told that they would replace the whole thing. We might be seeing a TSB on this soon. Once the work is done I will post all part numbers involved.

Re: (Beowulf)

I have been struggling with the same problem and will ask the dealer to fix it for the fourth time when my V50 has the 15000 maintenance in the near future.
As I said they have tried to fix it by lubing but the fix always lasts about two weeks and the squeal is back. Let's hope that they have a more permanent fix next time...
Is your dealer by chance the one in Broomfield? If it is I guess what you told is good news.

Re: (FinnSpeed)

FinnSpeed,
My dealer is Pederson up in Fortcollins. They have been great to deal with so far.
When I mentioned the clutch, they immediately knew of the problem and said that they would replace it. I would give them a call.

Re: (Beowulf)

can anyone confirm that this clutch squeak is a problem that will be addressed by volvo? i noticed my clutch started squeaking too and i am going to call my dealer tomorrow to bring my car in. however, if this is a known problem i want to let them know so that they know so they dont think its just a lubing issue.

Yes, it is. Has been from the beginning but now they seem to have a better fix than just lubing.
I just had my V50 in the 15k maintenance last week and they replaced some small parts to the clutch pedal. Some people have reported that their dealer replaced the whole pedal but this does not seem to be the case with my car.
I will have to get the maintenance receipt from my car to give more details. I'll try to remember to do it today...

Re: (FinnSpeed)

OK, here's what they did this time:
Cause: Clutch pivot noisy.
Correction: Remove & reposition spring, reposition plastic pivot, lube.
Took 0.8 hours to fix. Apparently they did not replace any parts but reinstalled them. Might well be a working fix but we'll see soon. The clutch pedal has now been totally well behaved a week. Previously it started showing symptoms earlier but took another week to return really annoying.
Edit: I just found that there is an operation number 43119 listed for this fix. I don't know what that means but hope that it helps.

Mine does it and it drives me crazy. I have sprayed it with silicone spray and it has helped but it returnes after a few days.

Re: (Phaeton)

Update:
It is now more than two weeks since the maintenance. The squeak has not come back!
So this time they succeeded in fixing the problem. My guess is they worked on the pivot while it was off. Increased a hole size a bit to get rid of too tight fit?
