Question. My clutch is making a new and noticeable whining noise when pressing it in and letting it out...most noticeable when shifting 1-3 gears. Clutch/Brake reservoir are full, but it sounds like a hydraulic kind of whine.
Any ideas? 60k on the car now.

Re: Clutch is whining? (JARMO)

It may make the noise through all gears, just more noticeable at slower (quieter) speeds. It is only making the noise as the clutch is depressed, and yes if at a stop even in neutral and I push the clutch in the whine is slightly present, although not as noticeable as when putting load on it.
Just something new that wasn't there before and am wondering what gives and what potentially to do about it.
Re: Clutch is whining? (JRL)

depressing a clutch pedal on a bad throw-out would make it quiet down as well. I was just throwing it out there.
But nothing is "CHEAP" when it comes to tranny or clutch problems. Removing it is a time-consuming process. The part itself may be cheap, but the overall job isn't.
I myself am starting to notice a later release on my clutch in 1st and difficulty doing smooth 1-2 shifts the last few days. Thinking it's starting to go bye-bye.

A bad TB can be silent when under no load, then start making noise when under a load. This is usualy a bearing squeal, or sound kinda like a bad power steering pumpish....
It can also make noise when under no load, and quiet up under a load. Usualy this situation is a rattle noise when foot is off clutch.
Just depends on how it's failing.
Mine was doing this also, for about the first 2-3 inches of push it would "weep". It just needed a little lithium grease, on the interior parts which are physically moving..... no bearing or anything. Something to check before you go spending lots of $.
Had the same issue with my mazda.
