Hello all: I recently began noticing a clunking sound coming from the front end usually when I'm turning into a driveway. I took it to the dealership, who told me that such an clunk is natural for S80's. I was also told that the suspension points all checked out. That just doesn't sound right to me. In fact, the clunk seems to be getting louder. (By the way, I have a 2007 3.2 with 30k.) Thanks in advance for your input.

Yup. I have the same problem too. Dealer never could "replicate the problem". It happens when turning on a slope, and gets worse in cold weather for me. If you figure out what is wrong, let me know!

Same problem for me. I have an '07 S80 V8. I only hear it in cold weather and only when I first turn through a slope or bump after starting the car - after it makes the knocking sound once I don't hear it again until I start the car again after sitting overnight. My dealer didn't really have a clue.

Re: Clunk in front end (zachsdad)

I found this info on a first generation S80 board. Perhaps, it might give some insight:
1999 S80 2.9 Front End Clunking Noise

Do you have clunking you can feel under your brake foot at low speeds and in turns? You can add two large “o-rings” to take up any slack in the bushing of the subframe and eliminate the clunking. You will need two o-rings and two new bolts. Part numbers for the parts to fix this are listed in the thread.
The thread is posted below.
http://www.matthewsvolvosite.c...31628
