We have a 2011 S60 T6 AWD with about 22,500 kms over nearly two years. From the week of delivery we have had City Safety inadvertent activation issues. We have reported this problem to our Toronto based dealer and Volvo Cars is aware of problems as evidenced by a software update which significantly reduced the frequency of activations. Volvo field technicians have inspected our car and tell us that our City Safety system is working properly> we do not think so!
After the software upgrade, we still have intermittent City Safety activations. We have had activations in the middle of a street with no cars or other such moving things in proximity, we have had numerous jolts as we approach parking gates with this car (which seems crazy as cars in urban areas today are continually going in and out of parking facilities with arms that go up/down), most recently our car braked in traffic for no apparent reason with a police officer behind us who was not pleased and let us know that when he pulled us over (he called this action by our car as “an accident waiting to happen”).
We have driven another 2012 S60 over 6,500 kms without a single activation of the City Safety system and dealers in Europe have confirmed to us that there are some issues with City Safety in some cars (‘1 in a 100’).
Is anyone else having these sorts of problems with their Volvo and what is their dealer and/or Volvo doing about it (if anything). Though we like the S60 City Safety is a hazard in our minds as this sudden braking is dangerous.

City safty only is active between 2-9mph it will stop the car. 9-21 it will hit the brakes but who know if your going to stop in time mostlikely not. but after 21mph its not active any more. do you still have the issues going on now?
