Re: Chrome Pegs (Our R)

the silver paint is just crap...too poor quality. I wished they staid with the original graphite paint for the R-rims!!!!! Looked FAR way better than the graphite they offer now. But Volvo want's to go the cheap way looks-like
and coz of THAT cheap paint on the rims they are full of cratches etc....well....i've this R for MANY years but if they keep up this kind of cheap ness way of thinking it will be my last one that I WILL enjoy for many years

i emailed them about how much weight it adds and this is the responce.
Because the original finish is actually stripped, the chrome does not add very much at all, the difference is almost not noticable at all.

Thanks
Sincerely
Your number one source for original equipment wheels and tires!

Ian Hutchings
Vice President / COO 14141 Covello Street
Building 1AB
Van Nuys, CA 91405
[email protected]
http://www.lawheel.com tel:
tel:
fax: (800) 584-2832
(818) 756-5412
(818) 756-5415

That's absurd. He should stick one on a scale and give you a weight.
OEM is a coat of paint. The other is a coating of metal. It may not add 10 lbs to each wheel but I can't imagine that it only adds a few grams to each rim either.
-Eric

I saw an R with crome pegs a year ago.
To pull it off, you need a black car or a car with chrome trim.
Otherwise

Re: (Sue Esponte)

There are placess that will strip the finish and polish the alloy, it requires high maintenance (regular cleaning and wazxing and no salt) but it's a nice look and no worries about adding any weight. Polished pegs on black sapphire with chrome mirrors would look AWESOME!
LTA
Re: (LTA)

read their warranty. It basically says
"there is no freaking way you can prove that the chrome peeled because of poor craftsmanship, we can blame it on basically anything that you do"
freaking hysterical.

Much less maintenance, same look.
If I am not mistaken there is a clear powdercoat as well. That would be the way to go. Most powdercoating places would do the stripping, but not the polishing. May be a little legwork to pull it off, carting the set of 4 back and forth to get the polishing done. Like you say though, on the right color, it might be worth it in the end.
Just say no to chrome (or chrone ) .

Call me crazy, but I would at least like to see what they look like on a black S60R. edit: OOPS I just scrolled down and looked at the price. No need to see them.

You've gotta ship them yours, send them $600 and pay shipping on both ends (to them and from them - which itself will cost a small fortune). Seems like a bit of a rip to me but I have no clue what it would cost to chrome them in the first place (nor do I care really).
-Eric
