Re: Chip. Best bang for Buck (jdsr917)

Either IPD's soft loader or RICA's PPC through ViVA.
I have first hand experience of getting stomped by a FWD S40 T5 GT with stage II RICA tune Vs. my FWD S40 T5 6M with Evolve's tune with DP file added (equivalent of a stage II). Just ask Skwirl. He said it didn't even look like I was trying to get on it. Well I was, and that's one of two reasons why I traded in my S40 the next day.
ViVA....
http://www.vivaperformance.com...d=205
IPD....
http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-S4...-1762/

+2 for Matt, he knows his stuff. I am torn between those two equally currently. Nay on evolve, my car had it previously...

Re: Chip. Best bang for Buck (carreragt7)

Im leaning towards the softloader i think... i like some of the features and the possibility of actually getting a real dyno tune. Data logging is a must for me

ViVA's charge to upgrade to stage II is $100. If you plan on adding a DP later on, go this route. But you'll be happy either way.

There are a lot of people with the 850's that used Upsolute but I haven't heard of anyone using them for the newer P1 and P2 Volvo's. When getting a tune for your Volvo, it's best to spend your money on a quality tune. IMO, IPD or ViVA is the way to go.

Quote, originally posted by jdsr917 »

Honestly how much work is needed to make it fast lol

Not a lot of "work" is needed. Now money on the other hand, that's a whole different story. However you need to purchase the software specific to your car. Each software package is married to your ECM, and will only work on the car that it was made for.
Read this for more info....
http://www.ipdusa.com/fi-6/
Thats funny!!!
EST dose not charge for stage upgrades for there RICA PPC.
Typical mods will include......
Tune, Bigest power gain of them all.
Intake, Minimal power gains but it sounds damn good!
Downpipe, typically a 10HP and 10TQ gain is advertised.
Exhaust, About a 5-10HP gain, but the sound effect is the real winner here.
FMIC, Consistant pull through the RPM range, Others know better then me.
