Re: Chinese Volvo? (paxcam)

This is semi old news. I'm not sure it will happen, as Ford has to like the deal, Volvo cars has to like the deal, and Volvo has to like the deal(they own the name Volvo I believe)
Koenigsegg is interested in buying Saab. I think it's because they don't want to see it die, or go to China. Same thing could happen with Volvo too.

The day they sell to the Chinese is the day I sell both of my Volvo's. It's one of a few countries that I will never do business with, hopefully it won't happen.

Sometimes I have an option on where items I purchase are manufactured, cars being one of them. There are lots of other options and I will never buy a car from a Chinese owned or Chinese manufactured company. Volvo has a great history, selling it to the Chinese will ruin the company in my opinion, at least for me.

Either way you spin it, you're already supporting Chinese economy and Volvo as a brand will make minimal impact on their exports.

Jaguar was also much improved over past performance before they were bought by Tata Motors. Hopefully Tata will improve Jaguar even more and I don't think Tata deserves all the credit for turning Jaguar around as they were leading customer service surveys well before Tata bought them. The XF-R is a pretty serious high performance car. Big difference between India and China in my opinion but then that's just my opinion, everyone else has the right to not agree.
Last time I checked India was the worlds largest democracy, can't say the same about China. Of course if one likes slave labor and no say in their rights whatsoever China is the way to go.

I can see why the Swedes would have not liked it being sold to an American company and don't blame them one bit. I see it as a proud part of their history and hopefully it will be in good hands. I know stability and the long term survival is the most important thing but hopefully Volvo will survive and prosper without the Chinese.
