Just want to let you Chicago R's know that I will be rolling the streets of Chicago in the R as a married man(April 25th is the big day) for a week. Heading to Chicago for my honeymoon on Monday April 27th. Hope to see you guys around. Looking for ideas and places to eat while were there. I've never been to Chicago, but I hear nothing but good times and good food. Hope to see some R's rolling around.
Evan(hoagrod)

We're staying at a Spa hotel when we get there. Forgot the name, but they have huge, multi-headed showers. But we have food reservations at Gene & Georgetti's, Weber grill, catch 35, Geordano's and a few others. We have tickets to the cubs game on thursday vs. the marlins i believe.

Re: Chi-town R's (hoagrod)

Wrigley is the best, most authentic baseball stadium still standing - no question.
Gino's East for deep-dish pizza. Way, way better than Giordano's. Try their deep-dish sausage!
Museums are great! Art Institute, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium are all convenient
Architecture boat tours on the Chicago River
Your list of restaurants sounds good. For out-of-towners, I'd add Signature Room on the 95th floor of the Hancock Tower. Give the maitre'd $20 and wait 30mins for a window table. Incred views on a nice evening. http://www.signatureroom.com/
Lincoln Park Zoo
Oak Street Beach
Navy Pier
too many others to list!!!

agree with going to the signature room on the 95th floor. I've been there for an anniversary dinner and it was very nice. won't be cheap but well worth it. Call ahead and tell them why you are coming in and they'll put something special together for you.

screw Giordano's, its like the pizza hut of Chicago "Pizza houses". go to Lou Malnati's.
^^ little harsh, some people like it, just not an original.
Pizzeria Uno and Lou's are the same Family. and i mean family, not category.
you'll figure it out. either way
and YES the boat tour, thats awesome.

Wendella boat tours is an awesome dusk excursion. You will *not* be dissappointed.
http://www.wendellaboats.com/
If you like Thai food, then you have to try Spoon Thai on Western Avenue in Chicago. Ask for the secret menu (it's all authentic Thai food of the highest order).
If a night of boozing is in order, skip Wrigleyville entirely. Don't go anywhere near that area. It's totally lame. Skip Rush & Division as well. Instead, try Wicker Park. *Much* better establishments, the meat-head atmosphere that is so pungeant in the other neighborhoods is totally a non-issue in Wicker Park, and you have a plethora of different style bars to meet every need.
Have FuN!!

I'm in Chicago fellow SS'ers. Were staying at the dana hotel & spa. It's crazy down here. Seen a bunch of volvos but no R's yet. We love food, and looking for ideas on where to go. We will be taking cabs or walking, so something best with in those constraints.
So far were going to:
Catch 35
Weber grill
Gene and Georgetti's
LOOKING FOR MORE IDEAS!!
Thanks Guys. Oh by the way it's my honeymoon, I'm married.

Evan(hoagrod)

I'm a transplant and can't take pride in either team, sorry. Regardless, if you want to see a game, Wrigley is the place. Hands down. But you already know that if you're a baseball fan.
If, on the other hand, you want to go out for a night of bubbly fun, skip Wrigleyville and the Rush & Division area, and head straight to Wicker Park. Tell the cabby to take you to North and Milwaukee, then walk southeast along Milwaukee. When you get to Nick's Beer Garden, you've hit the end of the good things to see in Wicker Park (if someone knows a spot past Nicks, I'm all ears), and you've already been to subterranean, the Tavern and the Pint (def recommend the Pint for live music. The talent there is pretty good).
But I digress, this is the insiders night out in Chicago. You'll be here as newlyweds (congratulations!!), so YMMV.
If you like nightclubs, I can offer some good tips (depending on what kind of clubs you like, the tip will be different, of course).
The Sears Tower is lame as hell, don't waste your $. All of the museums are top-notch. Depending on your tastes, you could go to any of them and have a great time. But, most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!
But right before the pint, there's a little burrito shop with a back door inside. Go through that door (past the burrito counter) and you will either find the coolest party, or a dead bar.

Oh, and I, for one, would love to know how you like Catch 35. Haven't been there yet, and I haven't found really good seafood yet (I live 5 minutes from Bob Chins, pass). Catch 35 is supposed to be really good.
