Hello guys, been reading here for a while, but nothing common. Bought a Volvo S40 2004.5 2.4 petrol this autumn, and the owner told me, that the car has heated mirrors aswell. Now the winter has come, and there are 2 options:
1) i got lied to

or

2) they are broken.

is there are way how to check if the mirrors are heated?

Hi,

The button for the rear window defroster, also acts as the button for the side mirrors (owners manual in sticky, page 69).

So you indeed have heated side mirrors.

If your rear window is defrosting but your side mirrors are not, than they are broken. You can find replacements online or you can open up the mirror-housing and see if a connector is faulty.

Good luck

The side mirror heating traces are not very robust, I have replaced several in my car over the years.

Yes, they are easy to replace without tools, although there is a specific procedure to release the plastic catches. I think there's a post in the sticky.

You just need the replacement glass, there are many sources online.
