It is a red '96' 850R with 51,189 miles on it. <P>Actually, this car has some other interesting details as well. Check out the carbon fiber look mirrors, front and rear mudflaps, blacked out grill w/slash, black painted back valence panel, black painted rear bumper (lower part), orange side marker lights, and it is debadged. Well, seems like the previous owner must have done some exterior upgrades. Nothing strange about it...just different taste. <IMG SRC="http://www.swedespeed.com/ubb/wink.gif"><P>I wonder what kinda trouble he had gone through to bring this over here. <P>It's got some 'funny' bid history, though. I couldn't see clearly...is that the R spoiler? Don't think it'd be hard to find out more about the car if we just run the VIN through....
Yes, it has the first generation 'R' spoiler on it, the second generation 'R' spoiler has a rubber lip on the edge.<P>Visually, the only 'problem' that I can see on the car is that it looks like it has been sun baked if you know what I mean. Front and rear bumpers, as well as all the door handles are faded really bad. Those can all be fixed easily though. The top of the hood, roof, and trunk looks oxidized as well.<P>I guess that checking the VIN number would be a really good idea at CarFax.com.<P>-Drew
really.......that's pretty odd! Does it cost alot to have them transfered into the states? There's a nice yellow 850 t5-r near my house for sale....It's got the black 5-spoke 17" rims! Soooooo sexy! It's manual too! I think it's a 95 and he wants 22000$ cdn for it!<P>

NHTSA has specific importers fro bringing cars from Canada into the US. It can be done, though I am unclear on cost. If that yellow R is a wagon and manual, it might be worth its weight in gold.
I'll be going to look at the R in Malden tomorrow,(Tuesday,10-9-01) I pass the town on the highway daily. I've actually purchased two British cars from that dealer years ago, maybe they'll remember me. I spoke with them Friday but couldn't get by there. They still have the car and I'm curious as hell myself about it's condition, upkeep, records etc.. From what I understand from a friend of a friend the car can be had for less than the bid price they had posted. In any case, I'll drive it and take my time looking at it and repost afterwards.

Thanks man. I'm really curious about the car. It amazes me that it hasn't sold yet. Makes you wonder if there is anything wrong with it?

On saturday I purchased a 1996 854 R, after searching through used car ads for months. I'm happy with my purchase, and am looking forward to years of driving this monster Swede. But a MANUAL? Oh, how I wish I had seen this ebay post a month ago.... I really think I would've made the trip up to Massachusettes to check it out and possibly make an offer. <BR>Enough self-pity, I have an R, and I'm happy with it. I just can't wait to do the ECU mod.. and brakes.. and transmission upgrading.. and new wheels/tires.. haha.. the list goes on. <P>Cheers.

Well then, considering it's not on the NHTSA list, I would imagine they just didn't mention the fact that it was manual. It appears though that the car has a clean title.
