I had the pleasure of going to HEICO SPORTIV, whose offices are in the background. The Dutchman that had his S80 T6 modified at HEICO also had the skirts or paneling painted silver. Looks great, but probably likely to scratch easily and the black stock color will show through. Why can't the factory offer this on the Elite as standard? It does look so cool, especially when the front flaps are added in silver as they were on this beaut! D: Best from Bavaria! Rick

But the Elite (and Executive) models are not supposed to be/look like performance cars. Take a look at the seats (front) of those models compared to those in a regular T6...where is the lateral support? I feel like I am sitting on a restaurant chair...

Yannis

Yannis, I've got to admit your right. The normal version of the T6 has much nicer seats than the Executive/Elite. I think this is only so on the American version however, as the German brochure for the Exectutive shows a much more angled seat, with side support. Much different from the US version that I recent sat in, an Anniversary Edition demo. My order number still hasn't been provided, and now I'm playing with the idea of changing over to the German version T6, dropping out the DVD toys, and putting my money in the mods from HEICO instead. What do you think? The Elite they have promised me isn't even on the ordering books yet, and I have no idea when it will be built. I could get a fully loaded German T6, get the RTi with the European maps that will speak to me (the US spec version won't ), and likely save some money toboot! I could also order the wheels I want, and not get stuck with the Thors that I don't want.
Best from Bavaria! Rick

Rick

Well, interesting idea but how are you going to bring this car back to the US? Or aren't you?
If you are planning to bring this car back here, I am not sure it will be worth the $$$ you will spend in conversions before the car is released to you by U.S. Customs. And those conversions will have to be made BEFORE you drive the car on an American road... I can start from headlight lenses, to odometer, speedometer, etc., etc. And if you ever want to sell/trade it, most likely the VIN will show that it is an "import" and it will be (unjustifiably so) a "grey market car". Lastl, and most important, you are not going to get VCNA's 48-month/50,000-mile bumper to bumper warranty; at the most, you will get 12-months/12,000 miles...
And I don't want to burst your bubble because I could be clueless (as I usually am) but I am not aware of an "ELITE" S80 being planned for MY2003...
Yannis

Volvo just released the price list on the MY2003 Elite, and the same day I did a 380 on my order. I changed from a T6, Yannis, to a German spec D5. I just don't need the toys in the US spec Elite, plus the RTi won't have audio with the European map disk, the TV wouldn't work with the PAL system, and I didn't like the seats and the wheels (THORS). So now you can see below what I have coming, and I feel relieved. This is the car I want, and will keep for many years I hope. BTW, I got the Xenon headlights too! Thanks for your advice and tips along the way. It helped me in making this choice. Best from Bavaria! Rick
