Re: Cheapest ECU upgrade yet! (R_Rated)

I've heard of them through VW tuning.
Been around a while.
Here is their Austrian home site
http://www.tuning-chip.at/kontaktset.htm
Just cause they aren't one of the names you've heard a thousand times here, doen't mean they don't have same effective programming.
And they don't have a history.
"IN"motion Just Like "UP"solute programs.
http://www.upsolute.com/eng/index.html

They've been around for a loooong time, formerly named Chiptronics, they have been programming ECU's, ...well since there were ECU's.
Thier biggest problem is 1. They don't keep up website, ..for instance they only have about 1/4 of the cars they have files for listed in database.
http://www.upsolute.com/eng/index.html
and 2. Individual tuners/Distributors are often specialists with what they see around them most and often can't talk much of other cars/motors out there.
I talked with a European tuner over phone whom I told right away I was trying to get a tune for an R and yet I had to go through about three different diesel motors that he thought were in my car. I guess he tunes a helluva lot of Volvo diesels. (Or it was "just lost in translation.")
Once he figured out I really did have an R and it was not diesel, it was just a matter of making an appointment to go in have file done.
Not only are there files for R's, there are big turbo upgrades available!!
Yeah, for the price difference, I'd be willing to give INmotion a look.
Matter of fact, here's a look at their link to R tune. (500Euro)
Click on chiptuning and then go through directory.
http://www.tuning-chip.at/cgi-...index

That's compared with 400 Euro for UPsolute.
You know, "IN" motion and "UP"solute are actually not very far apart in Austria.
Check out the similarity of vehicles in databses between the two.
-

Re: Cheapest ECU upgrade yet! (Dzljet)

I had an UPsolute upgrade in my 2000 Passat V6 5M. Never a problem.
No dramatic gains like the turbos would have: small advance on the throttle and gas pedal. I had this doen with the install of a lightened flywheel. Overall felt good.
I read often on B5.com that they were always there to help. Great support.
SJ

Re: (Elmoworld)

You might but at what cost, the "chip" prevents the "ECM" from using its safety feature which could yield catastrophic results.
