Well I was on the road to pick up a set of bridgestone potenza's with money saved this summer. The recent hail storm has changed the route that money will need to go. I do need tires in the next month or so although so I was wondering what are some cheapo tires that I can pick up for the R? Any ideas would be much appreciated.
TIA.
Jon

I am running the Sumitomo HTR Z III, and they are probably less than half the price of the Bridgestones. Thay are a great tire, I am really happy with them.

Kumho Ecsta SPT's seem to be fairly highly rated and are in the $150 per tire (for 18") range...

are the ones you recommend decent in the snow. If south dakota has another winter like this last one ill need some pretty heavy snow driving ability.

Are All Seasons sufficient in winter there? THe Kumho Ecsta SPT are summer tires. You'd want the Kumho Ecsta ASX for an all season...

Re: (wdodge52)

I have the stock pirellis and they were ok last winter in the snow so im assuming for my needs the all seasons will work but my roomate with a dodge truck moved out and we used his quite a bit. maybe have to anticipate the beer/food runs better since hes gone.

There is a VERY, VERY good review of "budget" performance (summer) tires in last month's Car and Driver. It is probably on line by now.
Edit: Here it is.
Note the performance against the PS2. Interesting.
http://www.caranddriver.com/re...tests

That is a hell of a cheap deal.

Before you beat up the OP too badly, the car was on P Zero Nero All-Season tires when it was returned at the end of the lease. (OP is the new owner of my R.) Unless the dealer replaced them with the stock Rossos for some reason, it was actually being driven on All-Seasons for the winter.

Re: (02s60t5)

ya it had the zero neros on it. I was under the impression that they were ok in the snow. Guess not by my stupidity. Should have spent the 750+ bucks I didn't have on a second set of tires
