This thread is very popular and valuable in the VW forums. So I figured I would give it a try here.

Heres the stipulations: Cheap (as in <$150) modifications to your Volvo. This can be anything (exterior, interior, motor, maintenance, etc.)

This thread, if it is picked up, will be able to show fellow SS members small and cheap modifications to try out on their car.

So lets see if it works!

Ill go first

I know that these modifications have been done before, but its all i have done to my car so far and is just to get the topic started.

Miller Motoring Chrome Signal Bulbs (to eliminate any orange in the lenses) $15.50

Like stated before this thread is just for the purpose of showing each other cheap and small modifications that can make all the difference, or add a little fun to working on our cars

Hopefully the thread takes!

"Forever Black" is still one of my favorite inexpensive mods to darken the dark grey plastic trims if you have those. I recently used it on the plastic by the mirrors (not the painted cap) and it freshened them up really well :)
Of course with a black car it really worked well :p

Back to black is a life saver on my black truck! That and the "black box" detailing kit are the greatest thing invented for black vehicles. O how hard they are to keep clean

thanks for your contribution!

K&N drop in filter: $40-$50 depending on source. P/N: 32-1958

Exhaust mod A: hack out center resonator and have shop weld in straight pipe - should be less than $150, though this varies by shop.

Exhaust mod B: hack off exhaust from rear axle back. Purchase coupler, 2 clamps, 145* angle pipe, and tip of choice. (Not sure of size, otherwise I would post it.)

Any sound clips?

Great thread idea! I've done a lot of cheap mods

Painted OEM Spoiler - $200, may not be that cheap
Spaced out letters - $5 in double stick tape
3" exhaust tips - $20 for both and bolted on
Awesome diffuser (not finished yet) - $8
SwedeSpeed license plate frame - $2 sticker and a $6 frame
Lightly tinted tails - $8 of tint spray
and of course the miller motoring bulbs (not pictured)

Painted calipers - $8 in paint
Volvo stickers - $5 off ebay (and they hold up very well)
Lowering springs - $40, you gotta shop right

Painting engine bay panels - $8 for paint and some masking tape
Strut brace - $100

Smoked amber markers - $8 for tint spray
Blue halos - $4 in paint
+$4 in silicone to reseal the headlights
Vinyl eyebrows - However much you want to pay for however much vinyl

Smoked mirror turn signals - $8 for tint spray
Cut out fog grilles - free
Plasti-dip grille frame - $5 a can
Vinyl wrap slash - again, price of however much vinyl you want to get
Painted horns - $4 of paint
Lip - priceless

Resonator delete - $60

Carbon fiber vinyl - however much you want

LED fog bulbs - $20
of course all of the other LEDs - $$$

Painting interior panels and vents - $30 for color matching paint
Silver control rings - $4 for silver paint

And then of course products to restore the black trim, the leather, etc. Spend a little extra to keep the car clean!

Remove intake baffle on stock T5 intake. Gives more of a whistle and I imagine slightly helps air flow- Free
You mean the one that prevents water ingress?

I wrapped mine to fill in the holes, and then replaced it. I felt as if the rubbery tube that it was fitting in was causing more air turbulence and disrupted the smooth flow. My boost also appeared to have dropped nearly 1psi with it removed (hard to measure exactly without a digital gauge, but I was around 9 when normally I'm around 10).

$131 for HID kit and BOW harness from sharphid, and DRL deactivate from the dealer. Definitely worth the money
